Last week when it was hot the cat was "off" and I thought it odd, since it didn't look like heatstroke to me, or urinary blockage. I tell my husband something is wrong with the cat, he doesn't see it... Ya know if I hadn't been here for a week I prob would have come home and he'd be like gee, the cat died! So it doesn't look better the next day, and I haul it off to the vet, and the blood test came back FIV positive. Vet said his lungs were full of fluid and he'd lost two pounds since when he was in last. Kitty looked fine the week before, slept alot but I figured he's a cat, its what cats do. So yeah, he was fine, then down, then came home in a box.
My wonderful tactful husband complained about the $180 vet bill and how their cats growing up always just "drug themselves away" Its a small miracle I didn't beat him to death, gee, I am sorry to inconvenience you. Was I supposed to watch him slowly sufficate to death or worse, shoot my own cat?
He built me a enclosure for the Jr birds (yeah, its way pathetic) so I stuck the broody hen with the gazillion chicks in there, yesterday she figured out how to fly out (because of course, he put no roof on the pen... ) As far as I can tell she didn't leave any chicks anyplace today. Another Runner duck is loose too.
Thanks for the well wishes! We really didn't plan for me to be pregnant, I'm 41 and my son is gonna be 17, so it's been kinda hard to adjust to it. Plus we have like zip for kid stuff! Its just bills on top of bills and then oh look, more bills! Yay! I'm supposed to go on a job interview and I'm debating, do I say I'm pregnant? Sigh.
Oddly enough the critters have had NO issues with the heat, the one hen that seemed to heat stress the most the fox ate. I did loose a bunny today, it bloated, it impacted and stopped pooping/eating/drinking. I finally got it to start pooing last night, but I think it was too far gone, it was seizing when I got up to pee this am, so I shot it.
I would have run it to the vet to have them show me how to do an enima but there was no way we could pay another 150 vet bill. Sigh. Who knew when I started raising livestock all these years ago I was gonna have to know how to do all my own vetting?
I'm actually pretty good at it, so it always bothers me when I can't save something.
I have some Black SF available Muggsmagee, I only have one litter of blues that are probably going to convention if they're decent and bucks, and staying here if they're decent and does, lol Most of my stuff does carry blue, or if you are close enough to me you could always run something over to breed it, I have three blue bucks and a bunch of black bucks that carry blue. Shoot me an email if you're interested.
I have Rex available too, or at least til it cools down (when oh when is THAT going to happen?)
I think the critters are fairing better in the heat then I am, I can't get a thing done out there! <insert heat drenched smiley!>
