SHHHHHH dont tell my kids you have SILKIES.. We love them ....

We had a blue silkie that had some deformities, crossed beak and way to many toes... we named him Edward Scissor Beak.. he was so precious and was such a talker.. sadly he did eventually die but he died with lots of love ... even our dog was very protective over him.. he was her baby...

I have Ameraucanas, Cayugas and Indian Runners. The Runners are only going to be here another week, then they're going to the Bath auction. (I got them from Holderreads Waterfowl in Oregon) Between the predators and user error (sigh) I didn't end up with enough of anything to make a breeding pen out of. Well, I could have done a mixed color pen, but I don't try to make mutt stuff on purpose, lol

The Cayuas are probably done laying til spring, a friend of mine has some available, I may shoot over tomorrow to see what he has, I had wanted to add something unrelated this year, but something ate all of the Cayugas from Holderreads but one hen. (Who is also auction bound, lol)

I doubt I will have any Ameraucanas til spring though, might have some cuts from the pen late this fall, I lost my show Roo so I am going to try to grow out a few of his offspring here I guess. I have transport back from the Crossroads show next month, but I can't go.

NY has a lot of chicken breeders, so you will have a good number of farms to choose from.

I have Marans, Lavendar Orps, Silkies, Blue laced Red Wyandottes, Silver Wyandottes, and Coronation Sussex. Some won't be available until spring, but I will have Marans & the blr Wyandottes this fall & winter.

Welcome, and enjoy the "North Country"

There are some quality ameraucana breeders here in NY. I should have some Silvers availble in the spring and maybe some BBS. DW has BLRW and Buff Brahma bantams, and we also have Marans. Don't be afraid to ask, there is alot of us on here.

I have all the colors of ameraucana except for blue and splash. I should have eggs from my lavs later this fall and all the others will be available next spring. I currently have a Lavender/Split lavender ameraucana pair available.

Around the 3rd weekend in October, there will be a poultry show in Syracuse, and that will be a good place to scout out breeders of any type of Poultry. I'm not sure of the dates, but if you look up under "New York State Fair" there should be a listing for it. When I get the entry book, I will post it here as well.

HI and welcome.

Oh my Chickenstalker! What beautiful birds! Wish I had room for more.

Welcome to all the newbies. We are still cleaning up down here in Ulster county. Flooded again on thursday and if I never see rain again it will be too soon. Things are just starting to dry out here. I had to clean out both coops as they were damp from all the rain and the peeps running in and out all wet. Hoping that all the towels, rugs, sheets and blankets we used during the flood dry out soon. So many people have lost everything. I count my blessings that we still have what we have. We are trying to figure out how to drop an oak tree so it doesnt destroy our footings for our coop we are building. Of course it was fine before the storm but split now so it has to come down.

On the up side, there are certainly a lot of bugs for the girls to eat! They have been gorging every day under the pines and around the yard. Packing on the muscle too.
