NY chicken lover!!!!

Planning on setting eggs for DD's 8th birthday which is March 1st. Would like to start them on Feb. 8.

Ameracauna eggs are what I need! She loves the blue eggs and would like to show them at Altamont Fair this summer. (No big competition, mainly for 4-H) If anyone thinks they will have some available by the 6-7th please let me know, I am willing to drive an hour or so to pick them up. Thanks everyone!

Beautiful Morning out there.

If all goes well, I am going to be setting a test hatch in the new incubator this weekend. Kinda excited.I was hoping to have a full bator, But it looks like I'll only be able to set about 24. We had a hard time getting rid of eggs, and a few new people called this week looking for 6 dozen total. (Honey where are the eggs that were on the counter? ummmm ok) Oh well.

And one of the Sheep lambed last night. Last year we were 5 for 5 with Boys. We got healthy twin Ewes. Then My wife had to go help deliver a foal. I wanted to go, but had to stay and watch our son.

Have a good day all!

Chris

Chickens outside large coop enjoying the weather.
So cute. My girls refuse to go in the snow unless I trick them with some scratch or treats and even then my one won't as soon as she see snows under her she runs back lol

My coop before the snow hit last night. This is when we 1st set it up this summer

The turkey was in there for a few days cause my dog thought she should take the top off the turkey pen and the turkey was flying out.. It was craziness for a bit. At lest the dog and turkey got along.

I have one coop of chickens that INSISTS on stomping through the snow every morning. There's a spot that is snow free (the center portion of our barn) that they simply MUST get to. They'll stomp through snow, ice, sleet, pouring rain, whatever..

The other two coops act like it's white poison and won't get near it. :)

Aria: Like this pic even more. The girls at work liked it too!

Lovemyzoo: I do like the rustic, yet simple design. Is it built to move around from place to place?

Featherz: Mine was a Llama run - in. Your yard looks like my yard...chickens and all.

It's been a long week. Work, dinner, chickens, bed, chickens, work, dinner, chickens, bed. Been crashing and burning every night. Hopefully the rest will catch up soon and I will have more energy to do more of the fun things. Like computer "work" hee hee.

Lunch is over...*sigh*

Wow! It's 54 degrees outside.. at the beginning of february!

My yard is still full of ice, but it's getting there. 75% of the chickens have ventured outside. I have one small group in my back coop that won't go out, but the rest are out and about.

Still here,

manage to clean half the large coop today.

Ticked off at CM. Bought wood chips today and they didn't tell me they go on sale on Friday! While their prices are lower than TSC the help is not friendly at ALL!!! I hate to go there. At TSC they are much friendlier and I'll bet they do more business with other types of things. I wish I was richer then I wouldn't have to scrimp to save a dollar.

Well anyhow the weather was nice and I did let the mixed flock out today. Poor Dels can't go out cuz the roosters fight.

I'll be setting eggs soon. I've been checking fertility and it looks ok. Just the Dels though. I wish the frizzles were laying but I think they're to old and I don't have the heart to give them away.

Well take care,

Rancher
