I am sooooo jealous. I don't even have a TINY incubator. I count on my hens do go broody. How's that working for me? Not so good.

broody # 2 of the year! The girls are starting a few weeks early this year.

I was looking ( swear, just LOOKING) at "exotic chicken breeds"....Sumantras were listed and being sold for $340.... You are sitting on a GOLD mine....did you know that? LOL

I still want eggs or chicks....I'll give you money for the chicks....really....I NEED some of those birds

Cass- I have 2 broodies and an incubator. You have eggs you need hatching? Let's meet and I'll try my best to have chicks for you in 21 days. Don't forget we will have chicks hatching March 1st!

if I fire up the incubator, I'll sell you some chicks. I am waiting about a month before I think of doing that. I think. never know, it may be sooner. I like it to be a little warmer out before I hatch chicks. Or eggs if you get a broody.

If mine were worth that...holy moly! gold mine indeed. I haven't done a head count in a long time. I must have 50 ish Sumatra's. Maybe more. So hard to get all the free range ones in one spot to count them.

They are great birds. Watching them always cheers me up if I'm having a bad day.

Wow! So jealous on the brinsea. Would love one of those but DH would kill me when he saw me hatching that many eggs! I'd be signed up on hoarders for sure !

A nn chick is out! Hopefully I get another girl nn out of this batch .. Only one boy nn out of my last hatch..

Cass, I'll let you know on that blrw.. She is splash and has a non splash hatchmate but the other blrw never has been broody. My splash drives me bonkers and shes already laying eggs in her favorite broody spot. Ugh. I am considering rehoming that whole coop but two could certainly go separately.

yes they are all my eggs except the ones with marker on them. those i am test hatching for another byc member

the bantam eggs are japs and the maran eggs and ee eggs are crossed with a lav am roo or a splash maran cockrel. so cant wait to see how they turn out.

so i have an egg i have been getting from one of my girls maybe a wellsummer? it is light brown with some dots throughout. dont know who is laying it.
my laying flock of hens are: BR, RIR, Black Star, BLRW, Maran x wellsummer, wellsummer, BCM, silver spangled hamburg, BLRW, barnavelder, then i have the 2 roos in there.


ugg right now my roos are having a crowing contest i can hear them... go to sleep already. LOL.

My Amerucana hens JUST started laying....seems to be a common thing with that breed.....Late development....My girls hatched last MAY.....really long time to wait for eggs but worth it....

cass, That is why I am hatching in Feb. Just hoping that they come into lay mid summer...I know, I know, I AM delusional!!
