NY chicken lover!!!!

I have it marked on my calendar! My Daughter is getting married on August 31, so the only thing that will stop me is if she has some plan for me!! It will be a very small and intimate ceremony, so I should be good to go!! YAY!!

Call her right now and tell her that the 26th is out for wedding activities....then you should be golden, right?

I'm in! *starts planning this year's version of the wine raffle basket*

The duck peeps will be seven months old by that point, so maybe I'll have some production Rouen eggs to bring along. That's assuming that I didn't somehow manage to get eight drakes and no hens.

Note to self : Save pennies for wine raffle basket tickets.

To others, esp those who attended last year....Do you think we should do a separate raffle for the wine basket? Might raise more funds for the host family that way.....not that $110 was shabby funding from last year's raffle....but I don't want the host family (Tab et al ) to wind up paying more than their morgage payment to host this thing for us all.

Amen!

Amen here too! I wouldn't even bother with a BST ad if I just had a few chickens that could go to someone local. I don't want big bucks, I just want my chickens to go to a good place. If I had to post an official auction, I'd just take em to the auction unless they were extra special and I wanted to put up a real ad with pics and such.

Hi folks; I am rather new to BYC and I have enjoyed this thread very much. I don't understand why someone would feel the need to possibly hurt another person by contacting BYC about something as petty as mentioning that they have sale or trade items.Look around and take note of what's happening in this world and realize how fortunate we are to have this and each other.

Could this site also be set up so that certain words trigger the byc powers of be and that it isn't someone complaining. If it is, sorry about the previous statement. Carol

Welcome to BYC and our thread (rewelcome if you have posted before and I missed it)

I'm not sure how the forum works regarding catching posts that are "against the rules"....I do know I got an official warning once and they were very gracious and not at all nasty about my bending the rules. (I didn't truly break it, I just fed a troll and I should have known better not to) I do know that people put things they have available (meaning chickens and equipment and chickens and ducks and chickens...well, you get the drift) on this thread ALL THE TIME....it's how we work around here, sincerely....and it is the FIRST time I have seen an mod step in and remove a post because it contained information regarding sale/trade of chicks/eggs/birds....so, quite frankly, I was shocked and my fingers just started typing....they do that sometimes, without my brain even telling them what to type, it seems. (one of the drawbacks to typing 65 wpm it seems)

I also know that this board/forum is moderated by a wonderful group of volunteers that keep the place cleaned up and family friendly....some of them have "moderator" under their name when they post, others don't...but they do an amazing job of keeping things friendly around here. I *think* that a post has to be flagged for a moderator to check it individually, however a moderator may be a regular reader of this thread and caught it without flagging....I'm just saying that if someone DID flag it, for the staff to consider what the regular contributors to this thread want from the thread and forum....I know that I wouldn't go to the Chicken Obsessed thread and post what I have available for sale, cuz it's not a geographic oriented thread....but this one is and we all count on our neighbors to help us out when we want some new birds....

Tabs: I just put it on my calender. Very excited!

Cass: AMEN

Let my small coop out to free range for a couple of hours. Tried to put them back in and went for a merry chase around the yard. Needless to say, they are still outside free ranging. Here they are in the hedgerow/stone fence near the back side of the coop.
