NY chicken lover!!!!

Righto. Understood, Rancher. The Adams Center thing just caught my attention. (Looks like something similar to Country Max, so I figured it might be a great opportunity for someone closer to get good deals.)

I'm really starting to get discouraged on this whole Silkie search. I had finally found some hatcheries that would sell/ship small orders and then someone warned to not go with a hatchery, go with a breeder otherwise I would be disappointed. So now I'm looking around at breeders and have yet to find any close enough to my area where I could drive. So the few I have found that are at least in NY, I would still have them ship and it's looking around $55+ just to ship them. Not including the price of the bird!

So frustrating. So if anyone knows of any breeders that aren't too far from Syracuse, I really don't want it to be more than hour long drive. Hope that doesn't sound bad but if you knew how much time/money I've been spending in the car and in gas these past few months you'd know why I feel that way. LOL I really cannot wait to be living in our house up on the hill in farm country and have nothing to do all day but enjoy the sunshine and take care of some chickens!

When I (for some reason) wanted silkies, I hatched em myself. That way I could get very good quality silkies! Then I realized they were too much work for me and sold them off to get real chickens like turkens!

It's just frustrating because I just want them to start off with. I'm not going to be raising them for the meat or eggs, I will get another breed for eggs. But also, I dont plan on showing them, but I want something that will look nice that I will be happy with. I've been checking Craigslist, came across an ad that I am going to contact. I have to find out where this town is first.

Did you try Doug? I was just out there the other day, he's about a half hour ride-I'm in East Syracuse, closer to Bridgeport. He's a super nice guy and very easy to get along with and very knowledgeable, I recommend him!

ETA..TSC did get a batch of bantams in today...I know you've said you didn't want hatchery stock, but...its an option..

All my turkens are Adorable! =) =)

I always say they're "so ugly, they're cute"! I do love mine and have a hard time parting with their chicks...so I don't!! Cydney83 knows how I am, was gonna give her one..but I immediately backed out and claimed temporary insanity!! LOL

Well they did show and that was good. So I'm down 14 chicks which is better than driving to an auction and getting a dollar each and that just covering the gas to get there. I asked two each but sold them for one sixty. I'm saving by not having to deal with them. They only wanted twelve but I threw in the extras. I figure there's more where they came from.

Grey - I would like to go but the drive and gas makes such things cost prohibitive. What ever I might save in $$ will be used up in time and gas.

Well, I know that has to be a load off your mind! Now you'll have room for those del babies you're gonna be hatching!!
