NY chicken lover!!!!

Ahhhh Ok I see. Well maybe I'll look into adding some more. Someone in Tully had some cochins for sale, the rooster was really pretty but I'm hesitant about adding another roo after what I discovered about my silkie I lost. But thats another story. I would just like to add another smaller hen for my silkie hen. She's the smallest and I feel like she's always left behind our of the four now that her partner is gone.

If you don't mind me asking :) where did you see Cochins for sale in Tully? Is there an ad? I have been searching for a Cohin Roo for months!

Thanks!

They are beautiful birds! Too bad they are bantam

I really need a standard. I guess I'll have to start a Cochin breeding program up here in Northern NY! I think I'll have to have to find some fertile eggs from someone and start hatching in the spring

Ohhh, yea sorry about that. I don't really know the difference as I am not familiar with cochins, I just saw that they were bantam and were as small as my silkie, which is what I was looking for - something her same size. But now I'm on a mission to find silkie hens with possibly a roo. But like I mentioned earlier I'm afraid to add another roo to my flock.

Well we just introduced the ladies to their new friend. One is showing him a little tough love while the other runs (oops waddles) from him quacking the whole way. I think after some time they'll all settle down and be close friends. I tried telling the girls that the only way they'll get any little duckehs is if they are really nice to him. Right now they are not in the mood to listen.
Dim the pen lights, set out some of those LED candles, and put on a little Barry White.

Sadly, my new black chickie didn't take the move well, and I lost it today. The other two are bombing all over the brooder like mad fiends, though. I watched them stalking a fly earlier. They almost got it, too. I love chicks!

Mrs. B is setting those eggs like a champ. Her first batch of kids are now avoiding her, as apparently she has unleashed some broody snarling on them. I had the two new pullets blocked off in the playroom half of the coop, but the blockade board didn't stop my determined layers, so I found several eggs in there. There are no missing feathers on the newbies, and they seem to be doing fine, so they're good to go. Rancher, they're gorgeous and huge, and I love them!

Hey Hen...Is that for you or Tabs ducks???

Lynzi---I have 19 pullets and four nest boxes. They only use two and if the most favored one is occupied, the squawking is nonstop until that girl lays and gets out!

So, my fellow peeps, I am on the hunt for breeder quality blue or splash silkie pullets for my boys. They need some womens before they drive me and Little Man crazy!!! Light blue is good and they must be bearded. Let me know if you know of anyone who has any for sale. I am looking for at least 2 and nothing over a year old.

I hate the week leading up to labor day weekend. Nothing but hordes showing up with wads of scripts wanting them yesterday and doctors sitting on their computers cranking out escripts as fast as possible because they are out the door thursday evening for an extended weekend. I need some jeannie powers so I can just nod my head and everything is done instantly!!!

I like the idea of a fingerlakes get together. I could probably make that one, with enough advanced notice.

Ginny-- I forgot to wish you luck and well wishes for this upcoming weekend. I hope everything goes great.

Pharm--Glad DH is ok

Thank you!! I am getting fake eyelashes on Wednesday. A mani and pedi on Thursday, and hair done in Manhattan on Friday. No one is going to know me at work!!! Of course the first thing I will have to do is get the dirt out from under my nails and leave my loved country bumpkin ways here in upstate! Thanks again for the well wishes!!!
