Daycare resumes tomorrow!!!!

Think little girl is starting another growth spurt, gone from eating like a bird (well, not like our piggy-chickens) to wolfing down food yesterday. And super tired. She is getting overtired at night and instead of easily going down, she cries for daddy to take her in big bed (our bed!) And tonight she was complaining her foot hurt, I looked, it is full of little slivers. We were able to get the biggest one out, but the rest are super tiny. And I know they came from mother in law getting her shoes wet this weekend with a hose, so she had to run barefoot and was walking on rough cut lumber as a balance board.

*end rant*
Believe one of the NH is moulting. She doesn't look bad, but I see some extra feathers around and can see she has a few white feathers sticking out above her tail. And I am getting one less dark brown egg first thing in the morning. Those Anconas better start laying soon, they are supposed to be early maturing and are not that much younger than the rest. Also supposed to be good at foraging. They seem to forage best around the feed pan. They stay in their own little group with the 2 EE girls, away from the big kids. Guess the Anconas didn't read their breed profile.
Tab & Trav - Did the splash roo start laying yet?

what, you have roosters that can lay eggs?!?!?! I have GOT to get me some of those!!!! where did you get them from?!?!?!

My Ameraucanas have been laying since spring, One lav hen was broody twice though. One black kept trying and failing to hatch anything in the garage under stuff, I sure hope the Roo is not sterile since the other one disappeared one night last month. :( I have a Black split and a Lav Roo that look nice, young still so I will probably overwinter both, whoever lives thru the winter will be my new Roo, lol

I have a really BIG young black, but I don't think I like the type on it. I'm debating about putting it over some of the Lav pullets that are typy but small and seeing what happens.

I really need to save some pullets from this year, I lost a lot of hens last year to predators so the hens I had were *okay* (Why is it that the good stuff always gets eaten?) but the Roo was really nice, I am hoping for at least three nice pullets from this batch!

I need to order my replacement stock this fall, I waited too long and missed out this year. :(

And I need more silkies again. Sigh. I have three mediocre black pullets but hey, they're hardy and alive. Between the Coon and Coccidia (I think) I lost most of the young stuff. :( Silkies just do not seem to be as hardy as the other chickens? And why is it that the ones that survive everything Mother nature (and me) throws at them are never the nicest ones? I think I am going to cage them to overwinter in the rabbitry.

And the electric fence appears to be working well, or at least it worked great in the rain on my dog, ouch! :O

Tab & Travis kept what they thought was a splash Orp roo from Annie and I took the black roo and pullet and blue pullet. When looking at 'it' at the get together, it looks more like my hens. The black roo I got has a huge bright red comb, the splash not so much. And since my two Orp hens are laying sort-of eggs, the splash shouldn't be far behind in revealing true gender.
It is 4am.... Little girl has been crying for daddy since 1:30. Every time he thinks she is asleep and lays her back in the crib, the crying starts again. Finally just gave her some tylenol in case it is her foot hurting her. I can't get back to sleep, need to be up at 6. This is going to be a great first day back to daycare. I'm on my iPod, so insert splat face here.

I send you a pm about something!

First day of school today for my son. Brought him in this morning, he's in a first grade at a new school. Felt bad leaving this morning but I'm sure he'll be fine. Taking a ride to a local feed store around noon to check out their prices and pick up some layer feed. I'm tired of trucking out to TS. Everything is such a haul from here, I have to get in the habit of shopping locally.

No eggs yesterday, so I'm not sure who exactly that one on the ground came from the night before. My lavender orps were 20 wks yesterday so I'm hoping to get an egg from her soon.

My son started this morning as well, first day at 'full day' school. He is four and they send a bus for him, he looks so small this morning. I have about fifteen minutes before I have to wait outside for him. I think I am more nervous than he :)
Bad news was that I woke up this morning and the house didn't have power, it went off between four and five am and we didn't get it back until after he went off to school. He refused to use the bathroom because it was dark in there lol I had to take him to the master bathroom so he would go pee!

Hope your son had a good day
