ty... Isis has always been my favorite for her beauty... they are all my favorite for something... but her contrasting colors are really something! photos don't do her justice... Wilma's my favorite for snuggling...

This hatch was a flop, I blame my incubator. Out of 19 eggs, 2 have hatched, 1 of which is not doing well. I still have 2 eggs that may hatch. They were rocking around yesterday....then today..NOTHING. When the 2nd one hatched, there was alot of blood and was smelly.

What am I going to do if I only have one chick? Hopefully, I won't have to put the other one out of its misery. I don't think.....in fact, I know, I can't do it.

Just a mess.

Isabel's eggs are in the Brinsea, hoping for better luck with that hatch.

It has been one of those days...... Our house/garage roof is getting replaced starting Monday, if the steel ever gets delivered. So chickens had to move from the location next to the garage. Between all the demolition on the garage roof and them being underfoot, they have to move so may as well head for the winter storage. Last night I moved the back fence. Instead of them nicely ranging on the back lawn, half the flock decides to head out into the horse pasture, then can't figure out how to get back and start heading for the road. I turn off the fence and go back to find they wandered up the other side of the lawn along their front fence. Herd them back in, just in time for the rain to start. Oh how I hate dealing with chicken wire. Got it semi up before getting completely soaked through. This morning, roll-off container was delivered before I could get the coop moved. Took some extra moving by hand and pushing tree branches up out of the way, but got the coop hooked to my truck. I love having it on a trailer frame! Hubby helped finish installing the second roll of fence. Tore my hands up good, have I mentioned I hate chicken wire? Drove the coop in the barn, got it backed in the stall. 6x8 coop should easily fit in a 12x12 stall, right? Not when it also has a trailer tongue in front and drop down ramp in back. We have tried every angle possible, but the ramp hangs out the back stall door, tongue keeps the front gate ajar. Rigged up some plywood in the now half open gate to keep the chickens in. Went for a much needed haircut (Locks of Love donation #5 for me), got back and hubby only seen 1 chicken out. He head for work tonight, I go out to check on them, 7 are out. My Mom and Little Girl attempt to help me put the chickens in the coop, so I can lock them up. They do not like to go in before dusk so that was quite the adventure. Harry the missing-Amish-Dinner-EE would not go in at all. Thinking we will need to scrap the idea of using the hoop coop on wheels in the horse stall. May just set up the horse stall itself for them to use this winter. And need to invest in another roll of fence, the little birds are flying over because the space is so much smaller than they are used to. Yay, more chicken wire...
