But I haven't been....so....

Pharm, I have friends with a house on a hill and they too had water problems. I've also delivered mail to folks whose houses had a spring that was constantly running between the two. We have a sump pump and IMO we need to make the hole bigger. Which is why I prayed for a dry summer and snowless winter last year.

As for number of chickens? Why would you want me to count. I sleep better when I don't know the exact number.

Soy? What the problem with soy in feed? I never considered it. I just buy commercial feed. Dumor, Agway or Purina.

I see no problem with soy in feed....some people do, however.....

Check your label and see what it contains.

10 hens, 5 roos plus one extra roo I don't count because I gave him away once and he came back, now lives free range and in the barn rafters.

So I think I have one going broody. Luna the big blue orp girl. Noticed this week she was sleeping in the nest box, so I would pull her out and plop her fluffy butt on the roost. This weekend, I would find her in the morning in the box. Toss her out the door. Today I went up a couple times to find her in the box again, toss her out the door. She would wander around a bit, eat and drink, then apparently head right back in. So tonight I took the nest box out, she will have to sleep on the roost. This is the hen we wanted to go broody...next spring, not right now.
