NY chicken lover!!!!

All plans of house cleaning have been cancelled due to stomach bug. Little girl had it last Thursday, hubby this Thursday and now me today. Hooray, just what I wanted. Knew something was wrong when hubby made eggs over easy this morning and felt ill just looking at them. I'm ok, as long as i stay laying on the couch and don't eat or drink anything. Tossed a couple pedialyte pops in the freezer for 'dinner'.

Time for the BRAT diet... bananas, rice, applesauce and toast (dry). Feel better soon.

Pharm- You mentioned today was baking day. It made me want home made rolls. They're about ready to go in the oven now.

Yesterday I rearranged some birds. DH has been working on setting up his workshop in the old milkhouse. I don't want to go back to work tomorrow.

Lap- hope you feel better. Fiona was sick this morning too. Not fun.

had an easy work day today, but it was still an early morning... thin ice on the water, and hens in the nests... when I got home around 1:30, I had 5 out of 6 eggs, no OE today... and it was so beautiful out, we spent about 2 hours ranging. One of the non-local neighbors who is up for hunting, stopped to tell me that he heard the rooster around 4, followed by coyote calls... he was hoping my birds were secure... thought my Royce was a handsome fella... so I gave him some eggs.
cooked up 12 quarts of chicken vegetable soup last night, so no cooking necessary tonight, but i'm in the mood for some candy... so I'm gonna make some peanut butter fudge and caramel sauce, as those are the ingredients I have... and both take mere minutes to make... sugar overload tonight!

I have a bunch of silkie cockerels I need to get rid of (free) if anyone is interested in them. I have way too many because Murray sent me a bunch of them extra when I ordered last spring. I have 3 black, 2 blue, 2 buff and a white (which looks more like a splash). They have my hens so stressed out, one of them won't even go outside anymore.

I separated them out tonight but that can only be a temporary fix.

I havent been on in a while, ya'll have been busy. Well, I got my new birds from CJ's Silkies. They are STUNNING!!!! I lost one of the porcelains during shipping. Cj was kind enough to immediately reship TWO older porcelains! She knew how much we wanted the porcelains. I got them the following day. (so nice of her!) I just had to share because I am so happy with ALL of the birds. I will be going back for MORE....here are the birds I received from her. I just can't get over how beautiful they are!

They are so cute~! I wish I could have Silkies. My old neighbor had them and went to see him today, he has made lots of progress since I seen them last!!

Yep, I'm better today. It is a short-lived bug, only about a day. Woke up at 4:30 this morning starving, so had some gingerale and crackers. Still keeping meals small and bland, but much better today, thank you.
My baking day is Wednesday. Apple, dutch apple, pumpkin and pecan pie. Also going to attempt some home made rolls. I'm still a novice with yeast, so if they fail, at least no one will be around to witness it. Well, other than little girl helping me.
Got a whopping 3 eggs today - and one of them was white! One in the litter box, one in the Eglu and one on the hay stack. Silly birds, our egg customer is only going to get a dozen tomorrow instead of the usual two. I actually bought a dozen eggs at the store to use for baking this week, at least they are all standard size large.

If I still lived in upstate I would take them, but it's a little far for me to travel now. Have you tried craigslist that's how I always got rid of extra roos.
