NY chicken lover!!!!

Morning all. Had to break ice off the outside waterers again. Everyone got some scratch to warm up on. The big girls are looking better (despite still molting) and didnt run away from me when I opened the door to open the pop door. Trouble is almost back to her normal, troublesome self so all is good. Butt checks show nothing and coop is still clean so I think we are in the clear. Of course, I will be nuking everything again soon just to be sure. Didnt get to bake yesterday as my dd came over and we were looking at wedding stuff. It was a fun afternoon. The mighty hunter returned emptyhanded again so he is planning his next move.

Rancher---I hope you had your tinfoil hat on before you looked at those pics!

Adorava---nice birds.

I will have some nice breeder quality roos for sale in the spring. Blue and blue/splash silkies. Since I ended up with all boys in this coop, I will grow them out as they are very nice boys. They are worth carrying over feeding for the winter.

Back to work today. Going to be a long week.

Feels good to have the cooties on the run doesn't it!!!! Yeah, work all week then bake and i am going to Worcester(Ma) to get my 6 YO nephew for Thanksgiving. Yes , I am insane!

I'll keep trying though,

Pharm - Have to check with DW about the ice and she how she's doing. She does call but hasn't said anything.

vd - I'm here with my three GD 6, 4 and 3. I know they manage without me babysitting but it must not be easy. Not sure what they'll do when they move to Winnepeg.

Thassa - folks just not up to taking new birds this time of year. Not place and to much work to quarantine. You might try an auction but don't expect much. I just drop mine off and leave. It's easier than culling them outright.

They are moving to the great white north. Nice part of Canada.

Next few days are very busy for me. I have to prep food go to work, then drive to Worcester MA because I am getting my 6 YO nephew for a few days!!YAY!! SSOO, if I don't get a chance to go on line, I hope that everybody has a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!!!

Ginny---have a safe trip. People are getting crazy!

Butt checks show all is clear in the girls coop so I am pretty sure I caught the cootie infestation in time. Now to beef the girls up with some yogurt, oatmeal and other goodies cause they look pitiful between molting and treatment. Walked into the kitchen a few minutes ago to see the rir boys on alert in the run. Didnt see anything at first but when I sat down at the table and glanced out the window, there was the falcon, sitting on a little pine tree branch about 20 feet away from the run watching them. The bluejays came by and started shrieking at it so it finally flew off. The boys were good boys and called the girls to safety(the run is covered) under the coop while they stood outside guarding them. Hence the reason I am out there freezing my you know what off when everyone is freeranging! So far the deer netting accross the top of the run has been a good deterent to the flying predators. The girls run is completely covered with chicken wire and the silkies have enclosed runs as well. Better safe than sorry.

Have a good day everyone!
