This chicken is not dead

I will take a photo of my Wyandottee sometimes when the weather cooled down a bit.

Like this summer, it is so humidly hot, they don't sleep in the coop, they prefer to roost on the coop's roof. The coop is inside an metal enclosure so they are safe. During the day, they hide in the shade just like my other breed chickens. When it is really hot, I hose all my chickens under their wings and tummies. I also trim down their vents and tummies feather, just about 1cm.

I think they are ok with the heat, they don't go out into the sun like other chickens do, with that big coat they are wearing..who would want to go out on hot day. I also intervene a lot to ease down the heat so I don't know will they be ok if I don't intervene to help in very hot weather like lately.

Good to know, it does get hot and humid here in the summer.

I've filled this hole several times now. I saw dirt flying and thought it was a gopher. Nope. Its Ebanezer popping back in from China.

I'm waiting for mine to dig us a pond. If I just keep throwing treats in the same spot long enough, we'll get there.:lau

I'm taking advantage of their dust bathing and using it to turn the soil in my garden beds
I use to kill myself spreading pine shaving in their run. At one point I left a bag in the yard for a few days and they ripped it open and scattered it. They did a better job than I did, so now I just open the bags and leave the pile for them to scatter. Sometimes I'll mix in some mealworms to get them to really dig, lol.

This is what I do with the horse stalls now.

They tear up all horse poop, pick out the bits of grain, stir it up. Then I come in and scoop up the pee spots and any missed poops and throw down fresh shavings!
