Sometimes its better to know who the "enemy" is.

Well the enemies are no different...straight or gay, rich or poor. I am afraid I may be missing the point here.

I think the poster ( OMG I MEANT POSTER NOT POSER!) means that he/she doesn't want to participate in any patronage of people who feel so negatively towards his or her orientation? I don't know. Personally we should not make this an us against them thing. this is a place to learn from each other without fighting

True, very true. There ARE some things I don't agree with about gay people but for the sake of humankind, best not to say anything about it. We all can get along if we can put our differences aside and we all have a common thread, chickens! If I have something negative about gay folks, I better leave them at the door or don't socialize with them at all. Defeats the purpose of getting along, right?

I probably should not answer for aggie - but her/his comment got my attention as well. I think it meant that if she/he (and others) knew the folks who were bigoted/intolerant, that she/he would/could avoid having dealings with them in the future... That the bigoted/intolerant = the "enemy"

While I don't choose to have personal friends who are unkind, bigoted, unaccepting of differences, I don't think I'd want to know folks' personal biases. As long as people are respectful in their behaviors toward others here on BYC, that's good enough for me for on-line interactions

I agree, just because does not share the same opinion of someone who is more open minded means that he or she is an enemy, it just means that she or he has a different way of thinking.
There are other things on which you guys could share the same opinion, such as chickens!

The sign is funny, but I for one would be very sad if people were all the same. The world just would not be as vividly beautiful and interesting of a place.

(I like polka dots)

I agree. It's pretty easy to guess some of the regulars that are opposed to all of this. I don't understand the thinking or the alleged threat. However they are entitled to their opinion. I just wish that those with the same opinion would not legislate on it. I believe the sector of the population in question is the last remaining sector that is openly discriminated against.

I agree though. We don't need to hear all the bad stuff. I have seen some Christian threads that were left unmolested and the people were allowed to enjoy each others chat. That's as it should be.

There is one other thing to consider when you see a flaming post: which as a moderator I have seen many times. IT MAY NOT BE THE PERSONS USUAL NATURE. AKA: we all have good and bad days where we may just react and word something in an unfeeling or hurtful manner that is totally out of the norm for that persons character. This is one of the reasons posts like that are removed from the forum.

1: a person isn't penalized forever for an uncharacteristic slip up
2: the post cannot be a point of contention on the forum months or years down the road.

Tolerance and understanding works two ways. IMHO
