Ours will come down January 7th. Our son was born in Russia so we have a much smaller family celebration on that day which is the day the Russian Orthodox Christmas is celebrated. Even before he came along, we always have kept the tree up until Epiphany on the 6th so this is only one day longer. We put it up on the 16th.
I have 3 large fully decorated trees that are still up and being lovingly admired. I love Christmas because people are so much kinder to each other during this holiday. I wish it could be Christmas all year long! I'm the person that makes everyone sick of Christmas!! My mom wasn't going to put a tree up at all (which I think it just HORRIBLE!
) Then she said she got to thinking about her mom and how much she always loved Christmas and decided to put one up. Guess who did it for her?? I went to see them the day after Christmas and she already had the dang thing down!!!
Guess I'm a grinch too becasue mine was down Christmas afternoon! It was a holly tree with prickly leaves falling all over the floor, very sharp to step on! I dragged it to the edge of the yard and someone stole it, I guess for firewood!, in about an hour. I thought that was really funny, stealing a trashed Christmas tree!!
Had to share my SIL's story from a few years ago. Her family puts up an artificial tree every year due to allergies. Anyway, two years ago everyone was really busy and SIL ended up putting up the tree and decorating it all by herself and she wasn't very happy about it. So when it came time to take it down she refused to do it until the others agreed to help. They never did and the tree stayed up ALL YEAR!
