I find this absolutely ludicrous that we are worried about a person asking our children to take pride in their school work, do right and be diligent when one of our pres. couldn't spell POTATO and the other one held a book upside down when he was "reading" to a class, or at least in the photo he was. . .plus when 9/11 hit, he sat in a classroom and acted like nothing was going on . . .and we are worried about this pres. boosting kids self esteem and learning capability. . .shame on us. We, as parents are still in control, we don't have to worry about an hour with the Pres. turning our kids into robotic things that do what the gov. tells them to do. . .I for one am interested in what he has to say.

Edward Kennedy was a booger as a family man, but the good things he did as a political figure was enormous and the world is a sadder place without him. Did you listen to his neices and nephews and children? You might not have believed in his politics, but his family LOVED him, and nothing he did whether we believed in it or not made a whit of difference in our own personal agenda. We don't take enough credit anymore for being in control of our own destiny. Our children are our destiny, and if someone wants to help build up their belief in themselves and their community, then let them.

Hitler is a far cry from what we are dealing with. I think whoever compares him to Hitler has no idea what those people actually literally went through. Ask someone who came over here to get away from him. I had a doctor who barely escaped with his life, and he was forever grateful to be here in the state practicing. No matter how bad it seemed our country was headed, he was grateful to be here.

I will repeat again if he wants to address physical fitness and education not the service to him or the government I'm all for it. I saw the celebrity video that will be played and was appalled. Though it came across as a touchy video in the long run it came down to I pledge allegiance to Barrack Obama. It is not appropriate for classrooms. I wish he would take JFK's lead in how he responded to the youth of this country. I have both Physical Fitness and CMP jr awards signed by JFK.

Didn't Ted Kennedy go every tuesday to a school in DC and read to under priviledged kids because he thought it was important that read.

He even called the girl he read with the week before he died to apologize for being too sick to go.

Some people in government are decent people and mean well...

Besides, I think the kids doing so bad are because of their parents and not the government anyways!

Well I believe our children already have a clue that going to school is important...afterall it is the LAW that they go or get a education within boundaries of one state or another.

I personally would rather have Cheyenne working on her world geography or algebra than listening to this ridiculous speech.

The President needs to be in his office doing his job...like fixing the economy and other countrywide issues instead of giving school children a worn out speech that they receive at home, at school or both already.

If the middle school stops classes for this nonsense I am going to go ballistic because his politics and opinions are far less important to a 13 year old than getting her studies done! If I wanted that man to tell my daughter how important school and education is, he would be her father!
