I was watching the news this morning and was surprised to hear that the Occupy protesters are still protesting. I learned that they have been living in tents for 2 weeks here in Portland Or. and they are marching back and forth through downtown.

I have yet to hear any real reason for the protest as most of the interviews I have seen are people that are unemployed, living on the street or living in their parents basement as one reporter said.

Some have said it is a grassroots protest but the reports I have heard is it is organized and backed by some large existing groups of a political nature.

Most complaints that were aired have been the disrupting of everyday activities that involve getting around town and have really not had any positive support by the people that live in the areas they are protesting in.

Has anyone had to deal with this? my brother sat in traffic for 3 hours waiting to get home the other day and a friend was late to work by 2 hours the other day also. It just seems to me like a bunch of people with nothing better to do, at least from what I have seen.

I suppose this means I should actually get around to reading the news to understand what all is going on with it.

I don't *think* it's affected me here, but I'm pretty much usually in my own little world for the most part.

booker even if you get around to watching the news you'll see that there isn't a whole lot of sense to it.

I don't know how to post links, but the one in Atlanta, this last weekend, is something to behold...One of the most painful videos I've ever watched. You can see it on Youtube.

Adults sitting down in front of one man with a bullhorn, raising hands and wiggling fingers and repeating everything in short phrases, like a group of kindergarteners learning their ABC's or colors....I'm thinking, "Do these people know how embarrassing this looks, from the outside."

Congressman John Lewis, D. showed up to speak to the crowd, and after 10 minutes of nonconsensus, they came to a consensus that John Lewis wasn't any more important than anyone else, so, he wasn't granted permission to speak.

Of course, the guy on the bullhorn seemed to think pretty highly of himself....Typical socialist.

From what I can see, in many places they are acting like animals. There have been several pictures of people defecating in the street, one doing on an American flag.

They are in our area, but they are not the sort of people I see sitting on the street corners here. I'm pretty sure I recognized some people from the U.

Hope to get out and talk to them this week, though I ended up not having time this weekend. Ours have all been polite here, and led by people in safety reflective vests...which is a good thing given our state's driving record.

As far as I've heard, the first corporate backing they've had is Ben and Jerry's icecream... So probably not huge think tanks, no.
