Octagon 20 Eco- first hatch!

I am going to be setting 26 bantam eggs into my octogon eco in a few hours here. I'm hoping to have a good hatch. So far the bator has been staying at 99 degrees. Congratz on your hatch

*runs to look* I never knew that....

I just put a drikning straw through the vent hole, and used a syringe to fill it.

if only I knew there was a hole to add water....

We have hatched ducks with it so far. We love it!! We have the automatic turner, so quiet and simple. The temp hasnt ever changed either!

My first hatch in the Octagon 20 Eco began this morning. I had 12 mutt eggs and 12 Welsummer eggs. As of tonight, I have 9 hatched out of the mutt eggs and 1 Welsummer (I was told the Welsummers might be a little slower to hatch). Tomorrow is day 21. So far, all have hatched fairly quickly and cleanly, and all look healthy. I have several pips on the remaining eggs and hopefully will have more new chicks in the morning. I did remove the first eight after they had fluffed up and dried for a few hours (it's a little crowded in the Octagon with 8 chicks and 14 eggs). We made a super quick removal, then put the top back on the bator and the temp. and humidity were good in just a few minutes.

My hatch of Barnevelder Bantams in ECO 20 is due in 10 days.

Better be good, I paid small fortune for the eggs.

Go Brinsea!

It is a pleasure to read tread like this instead of daily moaning about LG and other styros.

The hatching continues in my new Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco. This morning I had 13 new chicks--all dry and active. We did a quick removal again and put the new chicks in with the brooder with the other 8 that hatched yesterday, then closed the incubator. I have one Welsummer egg pipping now and hopefully the two remaining eggs will hatch. Compared to my two previous trys at hatching, the process in the Brinsea has been great--it really keeps the temp. and humidity right on track.

Before I go out an buy one of these I would like to know how it dose in a room that the temp. is not a constant? (day warm ---- night cool) I know I won't have to baby sit this unit.

My room temp drops to 70 by morning, then climbs to about 80 through the day ( Fl in April). I keep windows open most of the time.

My ECO 20 holds the temp within .2 - .3 F through this swing.

No need to touch it.

My temps swing from 45 to 90 (at least this week) and I have not seen more than 1/2 a degree change in the Octagon 20 eco. Yay!

One of my guinea fowl hatched yesterday, and tomorrow is the hatch day for the second set of eggs- three Nankin and another keet.

I think I did indeed over humidify with sponges with the last hatch. I reduced it to two sponges and 50-60% for this hatch. Here is to hoping the last four hatch (staggered hatching)

I love this incubator
it is so easy to clean!
I put the bottom half in the dishwasher and it's all sparkly clean and I unscrewed the internal plastic panel to clean the fan area (little fuzzy feathers on the fan) and clean all the plastic.
Perfect. All ready to go again!
