My little paint Silkie is cheeping!!

I am guessing s/he will hatch out by morning, a day early.
The early chick hasn't hatched yet, but there are lots of peeps coming from the egg, and the pip is bigger.

None of my local mystery eggs developed at all :( I guess they had been refrigerated too long or at too low of temps. I did receive my barred rock hatching eggs though, and I've set them in to incubate. I have a lot of hope that these will do well since they are sold as hatching eggs and were never in the fridge in the first place. I'll candle them on 10/29 which is my new day 10

I am glad you got some new eggs!

Just got home from teaching, and we have two little Silkie chicks! One has a huge lump on its head. Is the the 'vaulted skull'? Is it ok that it looks asymmetrical?
Oh so cute! Congratulations! That is a vaulted skull. I haven't seen one off center before? It will probably look fine when it is fluffed up. :jumpy

Thanks for the reassurance. The photo just made it look off. It's perfectly symmetrical, after all, and the other chick also has the vaulted skull. The chicks are so perky! I have the brooder all ready and want to take them out of the incubator... but I have two other eggs pipped, so I guess I shouldn't open it. The humidity is up around 90, though... so maybe I could?
