I heard cheeeeping! ..Smokey got off for a drink and one is zipping and cheeping!

Should I move food and water closer? I don't want to close her in or she might poop in the nest!

I personally wouldn't move anything. Silkies are hatching rockstars.

Yes well I've had 2 bad mother Silkies unfortunately didn't care for their chicks tried killing them (and did kill some)

Day 14 candle...kicking myself for not getting pictures UGH! Anyway 20 out of 22 Ameraucana eggs are viable...15 out of 22 maran eggs are viable, I think. They are way harder to candle.

Congrats!
With the Marans you can candle from both ends, needs a second light source and a second pair of hands. I found this worked for me when I hatched Marans last year.

I candled the last Araucana batch, no movement in the 4 eggs but I'll leave them.. The first Welsummer has hatched, more pipped as well as the mix thats in there

My chicks started pipping Saturday night and one finally popped out yesterday evening. Woke up this morning to two more! And I actually got pictures this time:

Looks like a black and two blues so far! Eight eggs left, most of which have pipped.

They're ameraucanas! Not very recognizable just out of the shell, haha
