October 2021 Hatch-A-Long

I'm having some bad luck with chicks pipping the wrong end, one in the Araucana incubator and now 2 Welsummers have pipped on the wrong end. I know the Welsummers incubator has held correct humidity and temp throughout incubation.

4 Welsummers have hatched. looks like 2 males and 2 females, I'll be more sure once they are all fluffy. The mix has also hatched, it's a black copper Marans over frizzle green layer and it has a pea comb, so if it's a pullet it should lay a nice olive egg

One is out, 4 to go .. and Puff is on 3 eggs I candled today all developing, week and half till her hatch!

And now there is 3!


The other 2 may not hatch as she did kick them out of the nest (a few days ago) and they were cold, I put them back under her when I saw them, but they could have been out for a few hours.

My hatch is almost complete. Only one Welsummer egg left, I'll leave it until I take the chicks out in the morning to candle and see what's going on

Brand Newbie...I set 11 BP Brahma on Sunday evening. I'll be replacing clears with GP Brahma after candling at day 5. I know this is odd, and I'm open to suggestions but I have nearly a dozen of each colour and an incubator that only takes 12 at most. Ugh. So far, the air sacks are small and attached nicely.

Factory set temp 37.7
Humidity daily fluctuating 40-50%

Day 10 and all 15 remaining eggs are looking good, veining and movement in all of them. Two of these eggs are day eight so I didn’t officially candle them but they look good too.I pulled 2 clears and a blood ring on Day 7.

Day 18 lock down on chimpmumk hatch. Looks like bacteria has entered from somewhere (that awful green tinge on candling) so anyones guess how many hatch. Some eggs look like they are 10 days behind the others... I really don't know why I've kept the janoel 8-48 but maybe it will prove me wrong. 27 eggs to hatch
