October Hatch-A-Long 2017

Dang double darn! I broke a Blue Marans egg while dusting off some attached debris before putting it into the incubator. THIN shells. (So now there's only 2 definite Blue Marans eggs.)

The third batch of eggs in the incubator (due to hatch in early Nov) are 15 Marans and 4 Welsummers.

First batch of eggs: 7 Welsummer, 2 EE (Welsummer crosses), 3 mix (Welsummer/Australorp or Delaware)

Second batch of eggs: 11 Cuckoo Bluebars and 1 Welsummer

Out of 43 eggs, hoping to get a replacement flock of 8-9 girls.

Here are more babies pics for those still waiting. This is by far the calmest, quietest hatch of chicks I've ever had. To the point I was worried it was "too calm" aka sick but they seem otherwise good. Just very content and happy. I've never had either of these breeds as chicks before.

No new updates, but the eggs got a decor upgrade. The temp is dipping into the 30s tonight so all our tropical and potted garden plants got to come into the nice warm chicken nursery. Well, most, anyway. A few are still feeling abandoned at our last place.
