He is a bit on the leggy side for a Silkie, but has great form and feathering. Nice tight walnut comb. Has been throwing some beautiful chicks. He is also a very good boy.View attachment 3266169

Sioux, my cochin mix gal is IN.. She decided to go broody yesterday, so I blessed her with an additional 4 eggs from my F1 silkie mix girls.

Eggs are from Cheyenne (Sioux's sister, and Puff Meister, daughter of General Lee.

Vanilla the pullet is a first time mother but has been broody multiple times... she's sitting on 10 eggs but I'm guessing most will not be fertile as I've had a shake up with new boys in the flock so we'll see..
Popcorn (cock) Tie (cock) and Biscuit (rooster) are the boys. I don't think Biscuit is fertile for some reason so I hope the other 2 are hitting the mark... Pics of some of my flock possible mum's and dads.. egg-citing to see what colours I'll get!!

I can't candle with any reasonable hope of seeing anything until Friday so I'm still hand-turning the extra eggs, but I did see Rameses doing his duty despite his lack of tail so I'm hopeful.

Sticking some eggs in now. Mix lot. No pure polish, just polish and polish cross over polish crosses plus two OE. Chance of frizzles. I might end up giving some to a broody
Quail and Silkie eggs next week.

While slightly unplanned, I am getting some shipped hatching eggs. Expected to arrive tomorrow. I was looking to get an unrelated rooster and a few hens out of them. Half the females I have are daughters to my rooster. Quality Silkies are hard to find here. All my foundation stock have come from eggs I have had shipped over the years.
Reached out to a well known breeder on the “mainland” and she sent some eggs ahead of schedule.
Cautiously hopeful the eggs will be in good shape and that some will hatch. I have had very mixed experiences in the past. Everything from a 85% hatch rate to a 0% hatch rate. I feel I am realistic though and know what to expect.
