Crazy that they are not RIR... mystery chicks!!!

Hi all (*waves*)

I have a broody BO sitting on 6 eggs, due to hatch this Friday - 5 days time!

This is my third broody hen since the start of September, lol. Apparently, it's catching!

The first hen hatched a sole chick out of 11 eggs 6 weeks ago. Not a good hatch, and sadly I have to say goodbye to my little cockerel as he is being shipped to a new home in 2 days time.

The second hen did much better, hatching 6 out of 7 eggs of yet to be determined sex. Five out of those 6 survived, and one passed after a day. One of those 5 chicks is going with the 6 week old chick (above) to a new home on Tuesday too.

Which brings me to this, my third girl. She is on 6 eggs and has been stuck like glue now for 16 days. She started with 10 eggs, three of which I discarded (clear) and one of which SHE discarded. I trust that she knows what she's doing!

Anyway, here's hoping for a successful hatch for everyone!

Hi, all, I'm still new around here. I have a class project that I get to take home - hatching chicken eggs! They're due to hatch about October 29/30. The children are very excited!

I did order them through the mail, and only ten of the 24 have shown signs of growing. Sadly, four had what looked like blood rings yesterday. I'm keeping them in, just in case, and will pull nondeveloped looking eggs before lockdown. But, three were definitely moving and grooving during candling!

Here's hoping those six make it out, and that I'm wrong about the blood rings!

My morning update..lol! I was putting my chicks in my brooder and taped one chicks feet that were slightly curled, not in any hurry and then I noticed that one of the two eggs that hadn't done anything is pipped!!! I hope I didn't hurt it having the lid off the bator

. I quickly wet a sponge and put the lid back. The good news it looks like I get another chick, that makes 10/11 hatch, unless the last one is alive to :) My chicks are much better this time on the sticky part but still not quite fluffy in some places but very cute. Hoping my curled toe chick gets better, gave it some vitamins and taped them, guess I will know within a couple days. Now just waiting on my pipped egg to make sure it didn't get shrink wrapped. Talk to you guys later!

Here are a few pictures! Its possible the buff colored ones are reds and the blacks are barred rocks but I really doubt it. I havn't seen barred rocks without spots on their heads. The seller said he only has barred rocks and reds and they are in seperate pens but I'm thinking thats untrue. I don't mind at all though, they are cute and a great hatch experience :)

Love your chicks and the beautiful pictures!! Oops thought I clicked quote, This was for kada6305!!

Thank you :) We had 2 more hatch last night! and a third on the way. I am loving these silkie mixes! its like having silkies with white skin haha. They have the 6 toes, the beard. Not sure if they have the crest on not yet. will be able to tell once they dry more.
