October hatch "Grow-a-long"šŸ„

They're adorable. How old are they now?

What kind is the one in the front of the last photo? The black and white one who is leaning on the feed dish.
Some are a few days older so the whole group is between 6 and 7 weeks old.

Leaning on the food dish is just a barnyard mix or easter egger mix šŸ˜… that's all I have at the moment. Color-wise, I know she carries the silver gene, and may(very big may)have some sort of columbian-restriction gene. Unsure about much else at the moment.

She's a very beautiful bird.

I'm nuts over black and white chickens.

Well thank God all my babies youngest to oldest survived the chicken sitter. We had a few bad storms with torrential rain and heavy winds but that should not have affected giving them clean water. Very frustrating and difficult to find someone that will take care of your babies!
Went ahead and moved the Buff Silkies down to the big brooder with the week older baby Cochins. They were doing well and like they had never missed each other.
They've got a brooder heat plate and I made sure they were all tucked in well before leaving em.
I sure pray no illnesses come from the nasty waterers!

Mine always make complete disasters of their waterers and come through it OK. :)

Perching like big kids!

The adults on the end don't seem to care at all.

Thought it might be fun to keep track of our chicks from the October hatch-a-long.
Anyone else is also welcome to join in.šŸ™‚

I currently have 22 chicks from my 4 October hatches. Ages range from
6 days of age (11) to 4 weeks (1).
Many of these chicks are for sale, some are keepers. Planning to ā€œgrow outā€œ many of them to choose for future breeding projects.
All are Silkies except for two that are Silkie/Cochin crosses, eggs that were inadvertently set to hatch.

The ā€œmobā€.
Had them out in the grass for the first time and I sat down in the grass and they all came down and sat next to me. They are all so sweet!
Odette, hatched 10/2

Kept her as she is the only dominant white I hatched from my two test hatches and also because she was quite the ugly duckling at hatch and nobody wanted to buy her. Sheā€™s actually turning out quite nice. She had completely pink skin at hatch, including beak and toes and now these have turned black and you would never know that she is dominant white by looking at her now.šŸ˜Š

This is the little ā€œcreleā€ girl:

These are Hanabis two chicks from 10/8. Half bantam Cochin and half Silkie

This is the visually impaired check. Sheā€™s doing great. She was also funny looking at hatch. Very tiny and not the typical fluff nugget!šŸ¤£

These are the rest of the chicks from the shipped eggs from 10/14. Didnā€™t have the energy today to do individual photo shoots.šŸ˜œ
The rest of the mob is pictured, too.

And these are Laylaā€™s super fluff nuggets at six days old. They were in a plastic tub while I was cleaning the brooder. They are all super gorgeous chicks: great bearding, perfect feet and combs. Nicest looking hatch Iā€™ve gotten thIs year. Layla is definitely staying in my breeding program!šŸ„°

Awww gorgeous

My flock of silkies hatched on the 21st Oct and now Iā€™m playing guess their sex for their 7th week birthday.
I am fairly certain the grey one with large comb is a roo- heā€™s been doing some silent crows šŸ™€
What do you guys think?
The grey one with the comb is called Nori, the other grey one is called Tahi (Māori for One as it was first to crack), the white one is called Lavender and the lavender/white one is called Sage

It looks like Nori and Lavender are cockerels and Sage and Tahi are females šŸ˜Š
