Im so happy I have 3 new peeps, 2 yellowish, 1 brown. I tried taking them from momma since I will have a staggered hatch (my fault) but then mom left the remaining 13 eggs so I gave babes back to her. She got off nest and hopped up on the rubbermaid brooder. I want her to stay on her eggs. I have her in an empty horse stall, she is in a narrow sided water tub easy for her to get out but not babies so they can't go get food/water. I need advice. I was going to collect peeps every day then return them to her when she was finished hatching.......she wanted those babies back wouldn't take no for an answer.
Please someone with more experience help.....thanks in advance.

I just put 23 eggs in the incubator. Various breeds. The should hatch by nov 1st. But lockdown will be Oct. 29th so I thought I would list here. I am so excited.
I am on day 19 of my hatch. I still have 25 BBS Orpington eggs going strong. I had to split them into 2 bators because the Octo 20 does not really handle even 24 orpington eggs. I can't wait to see what I get!
This morning before I left for work, there were 4 little FBCMs hatched and looking out at me from inside one incubator, and one Salmon Favorelle JUST hatched, sleeping inside another, amongst the other eggs. (Yes, I checked, it was breathing.)
TODAY is the "supposed to be" hatch date for both 'bators. 7 eggs in each. I am going to be SO distracted at work today, I can tell.
Congrats to all of you that have hatched, and also to those who have pips. I locked down yesterday and I have 5 that have a pip in them today so far- and today is day 19. Good luck to all of us.
Is this crazy, or just nuts...We decided spur of the moment to use or passes to get in free to Walt Disney World. I will have new hatchlings a week or so old. I will need to train my father in law about chicken baby husbandry. Am I nuts or just crazy? The tickets expire in a few weeks, kids have a day off school so we decided, "What the heck?" I hope everyone is alive when we get back, I am pretty sure he will not check anyone's butt for pasty butt the couple days we are gone.
I had a hatch afew days ago that included two Black Copper Marans but one of the chicks never did well and I found it dead this morning. That means my chances of having my only chick turn out to be a hen are really slim. I guess I will just have to try hatching BCM eggs again.
