Hello BYC crew,

Ive noticed some strange behavior in some of my 9 mo old pullets. Specifically with 2 Easter Eggers, but I've also noticed some others doing it too. The EE's usually start it off, and I notice some of the other girls start doing it too.

As I went to close them in their run, my two hefty EE's have their wings outstretched from their bodies, and their tails pointed down as they kinda bob around strangely. Now, normally if I saw tails down, I would be concerned, but their behavior doesn't show signs of sickness. It almost looks like they are too hot... but they don't pant when they do it, and todays temps were pretty comfortable in the mid 60s. They are eating like champs. They probably have the fullest crops of all the other girls, all the time. They always empty them in the morning too. If I go near them they freak out and run away but just look enough to go back to this weird trance-like bobbing. I don't see any pests under their wings or near their vents. They are laying eggs, and their combs look red and healthy. They are higher up on the pecking order, but not the top. They are very active during the day, but do this weird thing in the evening. Has anyone seen anything like this before??
