Hi everyone. I finally decided to hatch out eggs from my barred rock chickens. I started with three eggs. The other two hatched out with the normal black and yellow coloration. This little one just hatched it looks like it will be pure white. I can't see very much black on it at all. How is this chick going to feather out? I only have barred rocks so I was confused when this little one hatched out! Here's some photos of the parents and of the chick.

Thoughts?

I would guess your rooster and at least one hen carries recessive white and that chick happened to get a recessive white gene from both parents.
It wouldn't hard to imagine that your barred rocks had white rocks crossed in at some point.
The chick will probably just be pure white as an adult.

I am pleased that I have learned enough from following you knowledgeable people on genetics threads to have anticipated this answer before I read it. :)
