Does anyone know what these deposits are on my Blue Copper Marran egg? Just started today and they scratch off like little eggs. At first I thought they were calcium deposits...but they scratch off easily. None on the eggs of the other chickens in the same box.
Any ideas??

Poultry Lice nits (eggs)?

Check your girls over very well for any external parasites. If you find any treat the chickens, clean out the coop/bedding/nesting boxes with Permethrin based poultry spray or dust. You can also use Spinosad - I've heard it works well, but is pricey.

Are they part of the egg like a calcium deposit or can you scrape it off? I have no idea just wondering

:th It would help if I looked at the OP's location!

We have a "secret weapon" named @Wickedchicken6 from Canada that has given some great info on products in Canada! @jmonahan check out the threads below...

Ha ha! I like that..."secret weapon" :highfive:

Unfortunately, I don't know any more than the information I gave in that bottom link you posted #25. I can walk into a store in Manitoba and buy permethrin that is labelled for chickens, but as far as I'm to understand, one has to be licenced to use it in Ontario. It is a class 3 pesticide. I believe you require a class 3/4 licence.

I agree also that it's eggs. I haven't got any experience with lice. But it reminds me of spider eggs or something similar. I've seen eggs very similar to hers, deposited on the roof of our older half ton.

You live in a complicated place!
