Odd growth on comb

Is dried food or something?
Is it hard?
Does a squawk in pain when you touch it?

Not food. He seems to shy away when I pick at it or squeeze it. It is hard

It looks a common growth on the same area of the beak as many others have posted in the past. There are many threads to look for if you search for "wartlike growth on beak" or "sore on chick's beak." Or Google "growth on chickens beak" for lots of pictures and articles to read.Some say they fall off eventually, and may be from a papilloma virus or possibly from an old injury from somthing sharp.
