I just boiled our first batch of pullet eggs. When I peeled the first one and opened it, there was a membrane around the yolk. The membrane looked like egg white that hadn't cooked. The eggs were fully cooked though. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it a normal occurance for a pullet? Are they safe to eat?

Odd..... I have no idea what that is.....

I would think it would still be safe to eat... But maybe due to the "hummmmm" factor I would probably feed it back to the chickens instead of eat it myself. :D

Having your own chickens you will see plenty of odd eggs. Soft shell, flat sided, rough shelled, double yolked, no yolk...even had one I cracked and out came the white and a whole other egg including shell (still don't know how the bird pulled that off). All of these are usually caught and discarded in commercial egg production. All are safe to eat but would cause 'townies' to be upset. But if it bothers you just crack it back over the chickens feed or give it to your dog.
