odd hen

I have a hen who acts like she wants to lay been in box most of the time for three days any ideas ?

Has she ever laid before? Maybe she is going broody.

Is she doing anything else? Sounds like she's going broody to me. What breed is she? Is she just sitting in there? She's not leaving every few minutes, right?

Sounds like she wants to set. I've had hens that didn't set until they were four years old. What kind of a hen is she?

she is white thats all i know she is not doing anything else strange.

Broody means she wants to sit on eggs or set and hatch and raise chicks. They usually stop laying for awhile when they set.

When a hen is broody, it means her mothering instinct is kicking in and she wants to hatch eggs, and raise chicks. Sometimes it takes hens a few years to get the urge, and some hens start trying to brood when they aren't a year old yet!

Sounds like she's allright, but do check on her and make sure she is eating and drinking.
