Odd looking comb

And a search also produced a fellow BYCer posting what they got when crossing a large single comb breed (White Leghorn) with a duplex comb breed (Polish). This particular cross produced something like a crown comb, which is a duplex (divided comb) with sides like a single comb to form a crown, with indent or hollow in middle.

Yours has the duplex comb of the Polish, sides like the single breed, but then this weird stuff in the middle which is almost like pea comb rows but coming out as crown spikes. You can get some weird stuff indeed with mixing breeds and comb types.

I’m loving the weird!! Thank you for this
I can see the two points of the V from the polish in him, right at the top. Yes, it is a him like others have said. Lovely colours on him.

How do you tell that it is a him not a her?? People seem certain -and I have suspected for about a week, but I’m wondering what specifically gives it away? Here is a pic of one of the other 2 I got - the other 2 are nearly identical. Thanks

The comb is too big and developed for five weeks. I'd also suspect your other two are cockerels if they're identical. I can see combing on the second one, despite the angle, which indicates cockerel.

I have several other breeds that are a week younger with way more developed combs - all of which are supposed be 90% chance of being pullets. I really hope I don’t have a bunch of cockerels - I can’t keep roosters here.

The polish orpington mixes i got from a person on Craigs List. (And when I said the other 2 are identical I meant to each other - not the one I originally posted - they don’t have combs nearly as developed.). The rest were from the feed store.

🤷🏻‍♀️ The breeder I got them from said they were Polish mixed with Orpingtons.
yes, i see that, and based on their mixed combs I see the V part from the polish parent on your cockerel. If it was a pullet then it wouldn't have the V at all, whether polish mix or pure polish as its a male trait. I think I'm correct in this but if someone more knowledgeable in genetics comes along then I will defer to them

Updated pics.
The one in question - which, I agree, seems like a cockerel - and one of the others from the same batch. It’s a shame I can’t keep a Roo - he is gorgeous!!
