Some do lay well, some don't. The ones I had back then laid well. 12 eggs before they go broody and they laid daily too! Just lucky draw on the pullet I guess.

Our two OEGB hens lay like crazy. Both lay at least one, and sometimes two eggs per day. I can't figure out how they manage the two eggs per day, but they are perfect eggs with strong shells. The hens are free-range and fed organically.

As for a sport, our hen, Sport is a sport (hence the ultra creative naming). She was the baby of two pure bred BBR OEGB's, can came out of the shell pure white, she is full grown and is still pure white, not a bit of color to her. We were very confused until someone down the road with more chicken experience than us told us that she was a sport, and then I looked it up, and it made perfect sense.
