OEGB breeders wanted to look at new birds!!!!

They are so friendly. i couldnt believe it. I can just reach my hand in the cage and they just stand there and let me pet them and pick them up. Im glad I got them.

I love my OEGBs!

They're cute, don't eat a lot, and try hard to be big birds. The poor roos have Napoleon Syndrome! LOL Mine haven't been handled a lot, but when I do hold them, they don't put up much of a fight. You're self-blues are absolutely gorgeous!

I have mostly BBR, but also two fawn girls. All mine come from my dearly missed Buddy, who was our house bird. He got eaten by a fox this past summer.

His girls were a BBR and a Sport, both eaten, too. Good thing I was hoping the girls would go broody, or I wouldn't have any eggs to hatch.

There's a trade day coming up this Sunday, and I hope to buy a few more, mainly a Sport or maybe a black breasted blue roo. I almost bought a lemon-blue pair last time, and stupidly didn't.

I plan to breed them. I would show them, but for show they have to be dubbed otherwise it is a DQ and I could never dub them.

I can't bring myself to do that either. I like their little combs they way they were born with them. I breed mine simply for my own pleasure.

Me too. They were born with the combs so why not leave them on. I think that they need to get rid of dubbing, or at least make it so non-dubbed birds are disqualified. I think they look much better with the comb on anyway.

I understand your feelings about dubbing and I respect it. I personally like them better when dubbed and if you are conscientious and good at it, it is not that hard on the bird.

There is a way around the dubbing, just show females. Or you can show undubbed cockerels till November 1st. But the best thing to do is to get a female line of birds. They are easier to condition and easier to get to a show.

I know you will enjoy your birds, I hope you raise a bunch

Dubbing is done for birds that are used for cockfighting, but since it's been pretty much outlawed everywhere, I don't see a need for it to be done, but like Blackred said, some people prefer the look, so it will probably be around for a long time. Even if they made dubbing optional and not count off for it either way, that would be something. If I ever do show them, I would have to do like Blackred suggested and just show females.
