OEGB dubbing

I dubb between about 5-8 months. I try to wait until there comb and main sickles are pretty much grown.

I dubbed one the other day at about three months. I did him pretty close. I am not going to show. How much do you think it will still grow?

I dubbed a Leghorn rooster when I was a kid. My first. Did it with a single edge razor blade when he was about 8 weeks. Gotta say, he was strikingly beautyfull when grown and nothing grew back......Pop.

I have a simple curiosity question regarding the combs on breeds that should be dubbed. Is the comb then simply ignored in the standard, or is there some criteria that one targets even though it will eventually be a non issue?

In other words if one is certain they will not show, would some breeders let a comb grow out and finish in an adult bird just to see what they actually have? Might not be the smartest question but I am just curious.

As far as breeding male line oegb's the comb really doesnt matter what it finishes out like.I know alot of breeders who breed female line oegb's will let the combs grow out on the males that they are planning on using for breeders so they can see what type of combs they are breeding into their females.I hope that makes sense.
