Eclipse had to force herself not to tense as Sol leaned into her, his scales pressing against hers. It wasn't just the stifling heat that made them seem to burn.
But she stayed where she was, trying to ignore the odd feeling of having a dragon touching her this way or being so close period, at least, a dragon she wasn't used to. The heat that was seeping through her scales was almost pleasant, even though the waves of warmth swirling off the Solarwing were hard to breathe in. Again, she was baffled. Sol didn't treat her the same way other Solarwings did. Sure, Sunspot was starting to come around a little and Helios seemed to have an even view of basically every tribe, but Sol was... different somehow. Eclipse felt like she knew exactly why, but she couldn't quite put a claw on it. It bounced around the edges of her mind like a playful dragonet, teasing her and flitting out of her mental reach whenever she tried to pin it down.
She brought her focus back to the present, noticing Sol's breathing starting to calm a little and his expression hardened. They were finally alone.
"Sol," she started hesitantly, keeping her gaze locked on the sprawling desert beneath them. Having him so close was nerve-racking enough, the thought of looking at him that instant was overwhelmingly terrifying. Again, she knew why, but at the same time, couldn't find the exact reason.
"Why did you fight for me like that? To get me out? You didn't know me, and our tribes... we're complete opposites. Why did you risk so much... just for me of all dragons?"
