Of Feathers And Flames- A Wings of Fire AU RP

Eclipse had to force herself not to tense as Sol leaned into her, his scales pressing against hers. It wasn't just the stifling heat that made them seem to burn.
But she stayed where she was, trying to ignore the odd feeling of having a dragon touching her this way or being so close period, at least, a dragon she wasn't used to. The heat that was seeping through her scales was almost pleasant, even though the waves of warmth swirling off the Solarwing were hard to breathe in. Again, she was baffled. Sol didn't treat her the same way other Solarwings did. Sure, Sunspot was starting to come around a little and Helios seemed to have an even view of basically every tribe, but Sol was... different somehow. Eclipse felt like she knew exactly why, but she couldn't quite put a claw on it. It bounced around the edges of her mind like a playful dragonet, teasing her and flitting out of her mental reach whenever she tried to pin it down.
She brought her focus back to the present, noticing Sol's breathing starting to calm a little and his expression hardened. They were finally alone.
"Sol," she started hesitantly, keeping her gaze locked on the sprawling desert beneath them. Having him so close was nerve-racking enough, the thought of looking at him that instant was overwhelmingly terrifying. Again, she knew why, but at the same time, couldn't find the exact reason.
"Why did you fight for me like that? To get me out? You didn't know me, and our tribes... we're complete opposites. Why did you risk so much... just for me of all dragons?"
It took Sol a moment to react, a forlorn look in his eyes. An overwhelming sense of lose drowned every bit of common sense as Sol sought to find an answer to her question.
"The Truck Yard only stores horrid memories." He whispered. "I hadn't been there for years until Tobias rushed to see you. And I followed. But when I saw you and I saw Helios... I had basically erased Helios from my mind. I had leaned to hate him." Sol took a shaking breath. "But then it all came back. The moment I saw him.. I.. and so.. I fought for you- to learn more about Helios, yes. But because," Sol finally looked away pushing back from Eclipse, "I can't do this. I can't do this right now."
What if Tobias was dead? What then? But what if he needed help? What if he was dying, lost, trapped, starved, tortured- Sol glanced back at the silver dragon, attempting to regain control of his wild thoughts. "What happened back at The Den, Eclipse? Tell me everything."

Eclipse felt her shoulders droop slightly. Sol had been words away from giving her the answer she'd been trying to get from him from the start, and he'd bailed. She was tempted to stop him and make him tell her anyway, but one look at the expression on his face told her it was best not to.
She heaved a sigh, shuffling a few inches away from his heated wings, and sat down on the ledge, draping her tail over the edge.
"Everything was okay until the security caught on to us," She started, shoving the previous moment out of her mind. "We were almost out to the yard when they did, and we actually weren't the first team they found."
She told him the whole story as best she could, from her and Tobias trying to fight the soldiers off alone to the arrival of Roe and her Rainwings. Bloodmoon's help and the constant back and forth, fighting and then recovering with the shield and the small car the Nightwing had picked up.
"I tried to tell him I wouldn't leave without them." Eclipse lowered her voice, staring down at her talons as the familiar sting of guilt began mounting in her chest. "I didn't want to leave them, but Roe and Tobias both wouldn't let me stay. I was afraid that if I left something horrible would happen. Because that's always how it happens. I feel like if I don't do something, everything will go wrong." She sighed again.
"But they were right. If I got caught, I would never have a chance to be free again, and they would be in even more trouble for being caught trying to help me escape. Tobias promised he would find a way, but... maybe..."
She trailed off, staring at the horizon line again.
"Maybe I should have stayed with them."

“Dont LeafWings eat meat?” Cas asked, sitting down near Hibiscus with the hide of some sort of animal and taking a bite. “Oh yeeaaah, the RainWing thing. How’s that on for ya? You just eat fruit now?”
Hibiscus looked up in surprise and smiled. "Uh, yeah, I'm one of the fruit-eaters," she said with a small laugh. "I guess I've never thought about it! What is... meat like?" She laughed and wrinkled her nose at the hide Cas was holding.

Sol turned himself to face Eclipse, a look of desperation in his gaze. "We can't live in the past, Eclipse. It does no good for anyone." He glanced back out at the endless desert, his expression tight, hard. The sun hung above the desert sand, setting as they spoke, reminding Sol of what little time they had. He grimaced as he whispered, "I think we have to wait. At least a few hours after dark. And then- and then I'm going after him."

Eclipse opened her mouth to argue, but as she looked back at Sol, she realized it would do nothing, so she simply let out a long sigh.
"I'm coming with you," she said firmly, barely even realizing what she was getting herself into. "But you know there isn't much we can do, and I doubt we could find any dragons that would be too willing to help."

Sol didn't respond immediately, glancing below as he repositioned himself. "I'll wait. We'll give them time after dark." He wrestled with his impulsive thoughts, but a realistic resolve had filled his mind with a calm, peace. He had to keep his head in order to play this right.
Sol gave a sharp exhale, glancing down the cliff again before he met Eclipse's gaze. "We should get something to-.. to eat.." his eyes wandered towards the specks of blood peppering the silver dragon's scales. "Oh, Eclipse- are you hurt?"

So Cap, what time is it with Tobias and Gables and when do you want the hunters to attack them? Gree is going to write a part for Ace to follow them before I RP Alicanto again.

Where the heck is Poopins?
I think it's okay if our times get a bit jangled, we'll just let Eclipse and Sol wait a few hours after dark before they either see G and T approaching, or they go after them and meet them in the middle of the freaking desert, idc.

Awesome, I'm so down for more Ace action.

Gurl's spittin facts, I've been saying the same thing-

Eclipse glanced down quickly at the cuts from where the bullets had grazed her scales back at the Den. The bandage around her forearm was holding well, but a faded, uneven patch of red was slowly seeping through the white cloth. She kept forgetting how much of a mess she actually was, with all of her little scrapes and bruises and bullet wounds, as well as her stitched wing and mending shoulder bone, complete with the missing claw from Neoma.
"They're just shallow nicks; I'll live." She gave Sol a wry grin, her gaze flicking briefly over the tail barb slashes and bite barks over Sol's own battered body.
"But you're right, we should eat. Gosh, when is the last time I ate something?" She stood up, suddenly realizing how empty her stomach felt, as she glanced back at Sol.

Sol gave a forced smile, opened his wings, and leapt into the air, shaking unsteadily as he soared before the jagged mouth of the cavern. He gave the shadowed desert one last glance before he entered the cavern. His own shadow stretching across the rocky sand, Sol could see his tormented heart obvious in his demeanor, but maybe that was a good thing- he could finally show weakness, could finally be a regular dragon with regular emotions and regular reactions. But this wasn't his regular self. No, his regular self was long gone, drowned in misery and hope he presumed to be false. But Sol let himself cling to the hope, the small spark claiming that Tobias was on his way, and that he was alive, and that- despite Sol's horrid, prominent emotions -all would be well.
