# of post w/out replies. Concerned about emergency/hatching posts.

I looked at the posts that no replies. Most where there for a reason.

However, some where questions with emergeny or hatching problems.

Please remind us somehow to answer all these question, make a special place for them if they have not been answered within 24 hours or something.

I can not imagine having a problem with NO replies and someone not real experienced with thier birds, goats or horses.

I am guilty just as everyone else is. I just don't remember.

This has been discussed before, but I think we can maybe do something about it now.

Can you add this to the suggestions thread, it is a good idea and I think we could find a way to do program a page to just show emergency / health questions that have no responses.

Sometimes I try to respond to the unanswered posts, but by the time I'm through the first 5, I'm often another 20 in the hole.

I firmly believe that every single hatching question is answered in one thread, or another, within the first two pages. If people aren't getting responses, then they should simply start reading the other threads. The answers are all there! Go get 'em.

in addition to what Greyfields said, it would help if the titles had specifics in them so that people who have knowledge or experience with certain things can easily spot and reply.

i believe that is in the "Sticky" notes for emergency topics.

an example of a eye catcher would be:

Emergency/bloody stool/coughing pullet!

an example that doesn't stand out:

Help! My chicken is sick!

UGH.... people that don't literally FILL UP THE SUBJECT TITLE with as much information as possible don't deserve an immediate response.

If you only have time to say "EMERGENCY HELP" then I don't have time to reply.

If you say, "Hen's leg caught in a rat trap - Leg not broken but bleeding" then I'd be happy to lend my experience in this topic.

emergencies like....... help, i have pipping but nothing has hatched yet,,..... that is not a 911 emergency.. If the emercencies all were actually emergencies, not so many would be ignored....

many times I have seen a question posted just a few posts under the same question..

what should my humidity be?,, is one that pops into my mind right at the moment..

Sometimes I'll answer a post to bump it to the top again, but sadly, I often don't have the experience to offer specific help. I hope posters realize that you volunteer your services and that the site has no guarantees that an experienced individual will see the post in time...despite all the excellent advice given daily.

OK nifty, i will post it. I agree that people really should be more detailed.

This forum is a wonderful place. However, I have to admit that I have been to other forums and the Emergency and Hatching questions are first and farmost in these forums.

No one really reads the stickies when they are holding a dying chick in their hand and typing a post here.

There is sooo much to think about. You must loose you mind with all the questions, suggestions and everyone has an agenda I am sure.

You are doing a wonderful job. We all need to be patient.

As someone new here is my feedback.

People requiring help should first READ. Use the search feature and type some key words. All the information, including 27 methods, 89 opinions, and some humor and some rudeness will ALL be found. Other's people lack of planning or laziness doesn't necessitate our emergency.

I also agree with Nifty (and not just 'cause he's the one with the coolest avatar, either). If, after they've read and researched, people who need help should fill out the subject line completely, post in the appropriate area, and be patient.

It is sort of annoying reading the same request for help or information all of the time. For example, HELP! or My eggs are hatching! Perhaps, there is a way to streamline all of this to confine everyone's excitement.

I have to admit, I get a little frustrated when the first 3 topics in the meat bird forums are "What kind of meat bird should I get?". Then, someone comes along and makes a 4th with the same question. Gah!

I would love to give everyone an individual response; but you will learn far more taking the time to research the question first before posting yet another thread.
