Well, it should be that easy for me. But its not.

My mom just sneaks it and then my kids blab. Then she promises to be good and then sneaks it again.

She knows the requests I have. She just doesnt care. It amazes me that she thinks she is a better parent than I am, when she thought it was a good idea to teach my 4yo how to strike matches. WTH?

Now I am at the point of just wanting to withdraw and cease all contact/interaction. But we live so close, go to the same church, etc and I don't think its fair to my boys to take grandma away.....
ETA: we wont get into the issues I and DH have with her husband.

You're not, SHE has made the choice to ignore rules, so you are following thru. Adults have rules, and the follow up must be made there too.

I don't freak out on her for letting them sit on the counter (huge no no at our house, but I grew up sitting on the counter and remember how fun it was so if mom wants to let them do that, fine) but now all of a sudden my 7yo is coming home telling me "grandma says I'm old enough to start going on 4 wheeler rides alone!" WT....F!?! My mom has not ONCE mentioned that she's been letting him drive the 4 wheeler or that she planned to do that. Really? You're going to let my child go and potentially kill himself without any adult supervision and you didn't think to ask me about it first?

Ok sounds like no unsupervised visits to granny's. I have a simple rule, no gasoline powered vehicles, i love my kids, they get hurt almost daily on thier bikes, let's not add RPMs to the equasion. You do something that can kill my kids, you don't get them period.

You have no idea how miserable I would make DH if he tried that. We have a simple rule in this house, it is not a democracy, I rule it, i run it, you want a vote, get your own house. (It may help that the current Mr saddi saw how fast I disposed of his predacessor).
