Hey Boyd, Algae here - our kids have a schedule also with similar rules. They do have lightweight chores, and more time for homework, but yes, they gripe, so they lose fun. Works well enough.

Also, may want to consider bed at 9pm. He will gripe, but my kids of similar age need the sleep, even if they think they don't. You whine like a 2 yo, you go to bed at the same time.

Boyd, yes, teenagers do still need written instructions, in the real world in a real job has them!!
9pm could be getting ready for bed time, wind down, brush teeth, get on pg's think about tomorrow's clothes, backpack ready
lights out 10pm

And I think that is very generous to have only 1 hour prior notice before a scheduled event. Depending on the scheduled event. most things are known about days in advance. It could be discussed days before, and see if actions up until the event are appropriate to for event attending.
Giving only an hour prior, gives room for constantly thinking up things to have to go do, without having any real thought or planning involved.
That way, the lesson that life isn't spur of the moment, but planned, is enforced.

Best of luck!

The rules seem reasonable. As teenagers they should be preparing for college or work, both of which have rules that must be adhered to. Tough, but we all have to grow up sometime.

Morning all.

Time for me to head out.

It's only 7:30ish and I've learned several things today....the grass is wet and cold on my bare feet at 40 something degrees...but dang my feet look sexy wet with fushia polish on my toes. And fruity pebbles smells good. And I have to pee soooo bad everytime I'm woken up so the snooze button and I can no longer play our naughty games...but the kids didn't miss the bus today, so that's one good consequence.

My kids have chores and they are 5 and 10 and if there's whining or they aren't getting done...no tv, no toys, no friends, no fun....go sit in time out....ok, now go do your chores and quit buggin me.

When they get into thier teens...I'm sure they will try excuses and do a different type of whining but again... no tv, no toys/games/computer...., no friends, no fun....go sit in time out....ok, no go do your chores and quit buggin me.....still giving me greif...I'll give them MORE chores. tee hee No, I don't expect it to be easy...even my "easy" child gives me tremendous grief at times...good gravy...go feed the cats and there isn't anything scary in the basement now GO!!! DOOO IIIIT!

Well, after I get to work today, I am going to call my boss and see if I can play hookie and go to dr appt with DH.
Yes, I finally got him home and got his dr appt scheduled, he's been ditching them way too long!
Man, to drive over 800 miles, and put up with cleaning out other peoples litter boxes and scrubbing their toilets, that is true fear of doctors I'd say!!

Morning kids.

Lovely morning.

My home life is making me want to live under my desk.

We drive 45 miles to work one way and not a mile was spent with a civil tongue in anyone's head this morning.

Can I be done? I call nap time!

Firebird broke down on the way to work today. Fortunately was not too far and was able to limp back to my house. Got to work in the truck, just in time to go to conference call saying they were going to can all the ohio people. Yikes.
