Ah Nells, I am sorry about Doodah.

I had a similar thing happen with a guinea pig, but he was quite old.

Laree, that bread is just WRONG. You should have seen DH's face when I showed him.

"What did she DO to it?"

Doodah is still hanging in there! I had to put him back in his bin so I could go lock up chickens and I stuck a piece of carrot in front of him and he chewed on it a bit! C'mon little Doodah, hang in there!

Come on Doodah! You can do it!

Once I had a bunny that i thought wasn't going to make it, I gave it peelings from carrots and she could eat those much easier. That was after a day of giving her water by dropper fulls, and then applesauce and then she was able to start eating the peelings.

He is just a baby.

I dont know if he is even eating the pellets. He has loose mixed hay in there plus alfalfa/timothy cubes...plus his pellets of course.

Thinking of picking up a bale of actual alfalfa tomorrow from TSC. They have a like quarter bale for $12.....still cheaper than the bunny alfalfa and is more than I will ever need. Maybe he will eat that better?

Nella..maybe break his pellets up with a hammer to make them smaller and shred some carrots and stuffs for him. Poor thing. I hope little doodah makes it.

FYI Sarah...I must pickup the child from the grandparents 9:30 - 10:00, swing by on the way back and pay a danged bill, drop her off at the house and then should be to your place....around noonish....we shall then haul azz wherever you needs to go.

zooooooooooooooooooooooom

Morning ya'll.

It is cold this morning. Tomorrow will be colder. I have carefully refrained from complaining about rain, since I've survived a couple of bad droughts. But I have too many young birds to NOT gripe about the cold. How will I keep them warm enough to stay alive until Saturday?

I temporarily admit: I have too many chickens.
I want to sell them, NOT bury them due to cold. I will have to move some into rabbit cages in the garage (no offense DooDah. BTW I hope you're feeling better). DH will whine. I can whine louder. Plus shed a few tears if I have to.

The realization that I am way over capacity should help me when the time comes to sort out the keepers, though!

I had 3 new millies hatch this morning. To add to the yellow, black, and porcelain chicks that hatched last night. That puts me at.... well, who's counting, right? Lets just say the bin with chicks from Easter until now is at maximum density.
My coops are at maximum density.

I'm doing a self-intervention this weekend

I got a PM from someone, telling me dyes will make my kids hyper.

....because it is the DYES making them hyper, not the genes.

I was a young, naive parent many years ago and tried to limit the dyes my kids ate. I wasn't even doing so badly. Alas, first four kids are nicknamed Mayhem, Chaos, Havoc and Destruction. I soon gave up the dye-free/limited life. And promptly got 1 of the most laid back kids on earth.

I think the dyes are HELPFUL to calm kids.
