Just returned from pregnant land. Not much going on there except some graphic descriptions of getting ready to deliver things. The best thing I saw was "Clean up on aisle 8".


Sumt-to some people Victoria's Secret and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition are smutty, even pornographic.

FYI, on this thread I posted this:

People shouldn't post that stuff in the first place, those that do will get warnings and then if they continue they will be banned from BYC.

So, the best thing to do is not to post the adult innuendo stuff from the start and if you, or someone else does, make sure it is edited before it is reported or a BYC staff member finds it or the thread could be shut down.

So, this is business as usual:

1) Don't post stuff that isn't appropriate for BYC
2) If you see a friend posting something that isn't appropriate PM them a kind note to edit / remove it
3) If you don't want to send them a kind note, report the post ASAP so our staff can remove it.

If stuff is removed before it is quoted 20 times and sparks 50 other inappropriate posts, there is a higher probability that the thread will remain open.

Nifty-- We don't disagree. Quite the opposite. We know we get out of line, and do deserve correction every now and then.

However, since our main source of humor is "The Snark", you gotta understand yesterday's little debacle is today's cannon fodder for entertainment. We'll have moved on by tomorrow.

To be clear: we are not complaining about moderation. We are making fun of our own foibles and the situation itself.

STILL- we'll make sure to be good, because we like it here, we enjoy each other's company, and we want to support BYC. We know BYC is your bread and buttah, and we respect that. We will be good.

We get PLENTY of reports from people that are 18+ who are offended by posts that aren't appropriate for BYC. Allowing posts that caused this thread to be reported, and some were well above PG-13, provide no benefit to our community and only cause many people, regardless of age, to feel uncomfortable.

Fortunately we have a very diverse group of moderators with VERY different points of view. When we all review a report and we all agree that the content isn't appropriate, that is very telling, and usually spot on.

To be clear, the posts that caused the thread to be locked weren't in a gray area of inappropriate... they were definitely over the line into black!

Ethnic and racial slurs and jokes.

All this is inappropriate for BYC. There are many other message boards more suitable for such topics.

But you know what? It just felt like it would be a childish act. Yeah, it's against the letter of the law but is it against the intent?​

That'd be why I didn't think the sticky was THAT important/followed.
