Yup, contagious.
I went out this afternoon and found the 2 black broodies on the ledge by the nesting boxes, mad as heck. Turns out Big Bertha went broody and kicked the 2 velociraptors off their shared nest. In the interest of peace, I moved Bertha next door and gave her the eggs that candled as barely started to about 10 days in. That left only the hatching eggs for the raptors, who've been setting for almost 6 weeks now (took 1 set and gave them another during the shift to give birds to LH).
So, by morning I should have 6 new millies under the raptors.
And room in the bator before Bertha hatches the earliest eggs in her clutch.
I wanted to show Bertha again though. Had her entered for KY.
Had TN entered, and then his ladies nuzzled his beard right off his face
Have the GN pullet entered, but she's in a nest box now, too.
Wonder if the fine KY folks will notice if I substitute other birds for 3 of my 4 entries....
BUT! I successfully harrassed a millie off the nest. She tried for 3 days, I persisted for 4.
Y'know what? I think I'll sell all my roosters. They're useless for the next 6-8 weeks anyway
