It seems like every time I've been on, you haven't been, so I've missed all your rants and die-in-a-fire episodes.

Love the new bunnies! How many are you up to, now? I'm down to 10: 4 adult breeders and 6 babies. All my original stock has passed on, my oldest buck died a few days ago.

What really frustrates me is that I've been trying to get him registered for a while now, but can't seem to get a time together with the registrar, so even more upsetting than losing Jackie's favorite rabbit, now I've lost the opportunity to have him registered and that affects future generations. He was so handsome, I was so happy that he sired one last litter. I hope the babies look like him when they get bigger.

I've been keeping my rants and die in a fire episodes to myself mostly.

I am up to about a million. Lol. Feels like it. About a dozen, I think. Maybe a couple more. Trying to decide who to keep and who to sell now. Have realized I really have no use for the harlie doe, so going to sell her. Monroe will be devastated, he loooooooves her.

I would like more show quality bunnies. I ended up with quitee a few who on further inspection are not going to show well. I love the new little orange girls (all does). Not sure what color they are though. Tort?

May try to get 1 litter from each to see "what they throw"....then decide who to sell. need to get a tattoo pen and do everyone just to make it easy. First show is july 2nd. Bringing 2 siamese sable girls.....and the new orange girls....not sure who else. Faith is preggers, tiffany still is growing her mane back from her previous owners haircut, the young blue point is not shedding out right, puff and deuce don't have great manes.....leaving the 2 sable points. Not sure. Need to spend a day doing good overall checks on each.

Also, sorry to hear about your buck. How old was he?

I lost a rooster on Saturday. He has had some issues (failure to thrive mostly) and I think the heat just did him in.

Bacon cheez-its????? Me want some!

They're good, but not when you're just expecting plain old cheez-its.

I understand that your current state of leech-feeder makes you hungry for many things lol.

I realized today that we have 3 tiers of animals in this house. Pets are papmepered, named and catered to, get to beg for treats, and are pretty spoiled. Work animals have a job to do, the egg layers, milkers and breeding animals fall into this area, breeders have names, but thry're generally not lavished the way the pets are. Meat animals may be pleasent to watch, stay unnamed, are treated well, but not really bonded with per se, a few may get to be breeders, but usually only a few while the rest serve thier function.

Yep, your bunnies-in-a-box are all torts. Most of my HL are black torts or black broken torts, but managed to get some blue torts and smoke pearls in the last litters (finally some variety!).

The buck I lost was 4 1/2 years old. The kids named him Roger. He never was a good breeder, I tried breeding him a few times over the last year and the does never got pregnant, so I thought he might be showing his years. I left him in with this last doe for a month and then took him out and a month later she had 3 babies (1 died). Three weeks later, Roger was starting to look bad, unsteady, losing condition, etc, although he was eating and drinking well. I did what I could, but he died the next day.

He was a really sweet rabbit and he was really good looking, too. I'm so glad I got 2 of his babies before he died, they're both girls.

Poor Roger.....sounds like he was a good little guy. My only "pet" so far is Monroe, the little lionhead mix I had neutered a while back. He is so fricking cute and hilarious. He is in love with the little harlequin doe I put in with him. He has had that pen for months and didn't mind at all when I added her to it. Just the nicest little dude ever. When I go out in the yard he comes hopping over and stands up at the closest part of the pen. So dern cute!

Those little tort girls are cuuuuuute. Their momma was a sable point so I am hopeful that crossing them to certain colors may give me more sable points. Really interested to see what comes of the frosted pearl x sable point cross.
