I'm havin a bycer's mama over for a visit tomorrow. She is not a huge fan of chickens. tee hee hee. But she wants to see them anyway and get pics for her dd. Well, they all look like poo and I don't think ALL of them are that way because of the roo but some are. oh well...

And I was thinking what oh what shall we do while she's visiting. And then I had a perfect stinky idea. Let's go stop by the animal rehab place where I just brought my juvy hawk on our way to lunch. That way that smell is totally overpowering...especially the foxes...and that way my chickens won't seem so stinky.

Fine, my chickens are not stinky they just are missing a few feathers.

Hey, its two hours earlier here, 'bout time you got up!

I'm suffering...I got up one day at 11, next at 12, next day at 1, next day at 8, and today at 7 am but I need to make it so I'm sleepy at a normal time since my sleep study is on thurs. and they want me there at 8pm...ew, that's too early but I suppose they need to plug me in and all of that.

Remember that chicken with the hurt leg I thought I should cull. It was badly infected with maggots and she wasn't eating.
She couldn't walk and stunk to high heaven.

I kept her separated. I hosed off the maggots. Hosed more maggots off the next day.
Began soaking her leg in a vase with peroxide.
Hose some more, a strong spray of the hose, like blasting it.
I kept soaking her leg.
Well, the leg is healing, she is eating a little, and now she is trying to stand. I even let her out for a bit and she ate grass and was walking and standing on her leg.

She just might be fine!!

Man, was that ever so gross.

boo...yesterday morning there were microbursts here and the corn is tall and some of it is laying down. So strange...I hope it stands back up and the farmers are able to salvage it? I dunno. It doesn't look broke...just tilted side ways kinda layin down but not ALL the way down but not perpindicular either. Poor corn.

Then some trees fell off in the next town and power went out for LOTS of people. A local church not to far away also has power outage and they had to cancel thier vacation bible school for next week since the power co. is estimating a couple of days without power for some. Now that is icky...the weather has been in the 90's and sticky and hot.

Today is the funeral for my 2 nephews and my 1 neice's friend...he was 21 and just didn't wake up? And it wasn't drugs or alcohol and he wasn't sick. It's a mystery yet. The kids lived down the road from him growing up so they are practically like siblings. Very sad for his family and friends...I think he may have had a child as well. Poor kiddo.

Boo, wow you were so compassionate to go through all that to give her a chance. I am impressed. And it worked! She's a goodlooking hen.

ew...I bet it was gross. You needed to go find her a leech to clean up that wound...they still do that don't they, for medical practices?

I'm glad she's looking and feeling better though. Did you give her some yogurt and antibiotics? <g laughs like she knows what she's talking about? I so do not. I just wanna talk like a bycer that knows something more than???wait, what do I know about?

So they still don't know why his heart just stopped? So sad.

My niece said they did an autopsy but no results have been released as of yet.
