Guess I should try giving her yogurt.
She just eating scratch and pellets and bugs.

Today when I get home from work, I will let her out in the exercise pen again.
Maybe put some neosporin on the leg.

That is so sad about your niece's and nephews' friend.

Re:maggots

I had a hen who had poop on her butt feathers under her vent. I went to cut them off and she had a golf ball sized wound filled with squirming maggots. Gross. I flushed the wound with saline solution in a syringe and then picked the maggots out with tweezers. It was fascinating. The next day I did the same thing as I had missed a pocket deep in the wound. Picked a few stragglers out the next day......and then she healed up perfectly. Can barely tell where the wound even was.

Faith and her baby are doing good. It is so big and FAT. She is a good momma. No issues since passing that last late dead kit. I am going to breed her to a different buck next month......hopefully she'll have a better experience this next time.

Belle, how old do your does usually produce? This is an older doe.

I don't know if I am tough enough to do what you guys do for your birds. I think I'd pass out barfing. I've never even seen a maggot.
