Not a lot of room for quail. They are short too, so you can get several batches on a bookshelf.

First time you see two males fighting, you'll be over the cute. Like bettas (fighting fish) it's a 1 male per territory or death deal. So if you don't harvest the males, they'll just kill each other.

Hrm. And one quail makes two of these tasty morsels of goodness? Hrm. It'd be a lot, but there'd be less room than the chickens take up, and my kids will fight for dark meat, so it'd be all dark meat and small packages. Hrmmm.....

Ok, what breed is a good meat quail?

Yeah, I dislike their disgusting selves enough right now that as tempting as squab may be, I'll pay the price for it to come prekilled vs raising the grody ratbirds.

But if quail aren't that grody and are easier to raise, maybe...... I mean, it seems obscene to raise a good 15 birds for one meal, but what the heck, it's seriously 2 or 3 chickens per meal here now anyways. And if 5 quail fit in the room 1 chicken takes up.....
