This one was broken out back rusting away. It has some 1/4" holes in the bottom for drainage. I had the kids haul it up for me, DH cut off the bent frame on the bottom, and we set it up on old chimney blocks by the back door. Its got half shade and half sun thru the day so it shouldn't bolt so fast. its the mesculun or whatever mix from Baker Creek so its got a few types of lettuce, radiccio, etc. Pluss I tossed in some spinach since my first batch did so poorly.

Had to try to prove I'm not raising mass murders because my kids can't lock themselves in their rooms.

No mass murderers here either Algae.

Sparkles, salad garden...hmmm...maybe I should start one for fall salads. Yum. I don't have any old wheelbarrows but I'm sure I could find someplace to put one.

I froze a bunch of broccoli last night, but not nearly enough. I may have to go to the farmer's market to buy some to freeze. We eat a blessed lot of broccoli. (Side note, broccoli is fun to type!)

I have been down in the dumps lately. Last night I cleaned my house and told myself to snap the **** out of it. It seems to have worked.

Where were you doing that?

Over in the Teenagers should have all the privacy they want, and if they don't get it, they should lie to get it thread. I forget what it's really called.

none of the boys friends have parents who are even interested in them. Last spring we offered to take thier friend with us on our 5 day trip to disneyland. we booked a hotel (it was break even on a hotel or gas to do the 3 hours of driving daily). Litterly the week before I finally got ahold of the child's mother "oh yes, they can go, asked 3 weeks ago"

They were just going to let this kid dissapear for a week and not even confirm where they were going or with who? I mean this nicely but we live in a poor area, our kids are already unusual because they have pocket money, toys and trips (we live quite cheaply the rest of the year to save for the trips). At least 4 of thier friends who know the house rules here say "i wish I could live here", so i don't think our kids suffer much.

Scary, isn't it? I have kids that want to hang here and I make them give me their parents phone number. The parents hardly ever ask where I live, or say when they have to come home or anything. They just seem to want the kids out of their hair by any means possible.
