Well that sounds like fun.

Seems like if I don't run in the morning I don't run at all. If I wait till the afternoon I will settle for weights or stationary bike and a good book. I'm lazy like that.

Your saga made me think about how many days since I can for sure say I saw my cat. I think he must have picked a fight with a rattle snake or a coyote......coyotes eat cats don't they? The other two are still by the house, but MY guy is nowhere. He's not come for food in days. The boy asked me when did I see him last, and I simply can't remember. The SO says he hasn't seen him either.

He's a barn cat. He goes for a couple days hunting but he's always back sooner or later. But I think it's been more than 2 weeks since I can FOR SURE remember him being around. two weeks ago tomorrow I KNOW he was at the house.

A bad case of croup.

Tuesday night he was up a lot and having trouble breathing, they call it stridor, when they do that. I took him in to our pediatrician the next morning. The doc is usually a lighthearted and joking-type of guy, but he looked very serious when he listened to Jacob's chest. He ordered a steroid shot and a breathing treatment, then had the nurses check on us every 5 min or so, but Jacob wasn't really getting better, so he sent us to the hospital for monitoring.

The nurse asked, "Is the mom driving him to the hospital?"
The doc hesitated.
I said, "Me driving as opposed to what?"
Nurse:"An ambulance."
[I'm thinking, this might be bad enough to need an ambulance? Then, I really start to get scared.]
Doc: "Mom can drive him."
Then he went on to tell me if it doesn't get better at our local hospital, he might have to send me to the Children's Hospital an hour away. (Now I'm slighly panicking.)

I called DH to meet me at the hospital and to bring me a few things to stay overnight at the hospital. All I had on me was the baby and the diaper bag. They gave him another breathing treatment in the hospital and the steroid shot FINALLY started to kick in and he looked to be back to normal. They discharged us yesterday morning with a precription for oral steroids.

Although, once the steroid starts to wear off, he starts having trouble breathing again.

Croup can't last forever, I just have to wait it out.

Wow Belle, I hope he gets better fast. Hang in there.

Sparkles, If only that could be true. We live too far out for there to be any other cats - well house cats. There are bobcats and mountain lions. Oh dear, now I'm depressing myself.........

I'm ok as long as I don't put too much thought into the cat situation - here or at the house........as for the name, I think that was the motivation behind calling me cowpie. At least that's what I'm convincing myself since I know Wego lurves me.
